The first thing you notice is how close you are to the city centre. The parking is through the middle of the building in an enclosed courtyard. We had to ring the door bell on the left side of the archway (it's not clearly marked how to get the owners attention, and it's best to ring both door bells as advised by the owner). We had a very warm welcome, were shown around the building, and the lady even gave us some tips on what we could do in Canterbury. Our room (#9) was a triple room with two lovely large windows facing onto the road, pretty country style floral bedding, and an in room basin which is handy because there's no en-suite. My husband booked this as a surprise and whilst I would never book anywhere without an en-suite, I was actually pleasantly surprised. The bathrooms are all in good state of repair, the hallway a little dark, but the room was bright and had a tv with built in DVD player. We only stayed one night so I didn't look if it had a hairdryer.. We were told that sometimes it could be noisy outside as it's a student city and that some guests bring their own earplugs, but we didn't hear a thing - the comfy bed might have played a part!
Breakfast was included and we had a choice of 3 breakfasts which was nice. Breakfast is a little early for our liking (between 8 and 9) so we didn't get the lie in we would have liked but it meant being up and ready for another full day of enjoying Canterbury. We had the Full English and it was tasty and enough food to fill you without leaving you uncomfortable. The owner advised us that although check out was 10am (hence the early breakfast I suppose), we could leave our car where it was while we enjoyed Canterbury some more which was a great!
We'll definitely be staying there again, what a bargain! (And the lady was very chatty and nice!)
Room 9 is at the end of the hallway so there's no traffic coming past and has two windows (facin...
