Wife and i thought we'd pop in for a meal recently during this lovely early spring sunshine.
Its been about 20 years since our last visit. And this definately will be the last.
She had fish in beer batter and chips, i had cumberland sausage, mash & peas.
It was just awful, the battered fish had the look of being cooked twice and the chips were the frozen type, both were drippng with grease. My cumberland sausage didn't taste like one at all, the mash was soggy and the peas rock hard. Both dinners cost £10 a pop ( not cheap ) and you could just tell they were pre cooked and heavily nuked. All this served by a scruffy herbert who looked like he good do with a good dunking in the nearby stream, preferably with a bar of soap.
What a waste of a good old pub. Owners.... What the hell are you doing ?
Get yourselves up past the cathedral and you will see an abundance of fine looking places offering two courses for the same £10, and i bet you it will taste 10 times better too.
Thats where we'll be going next time we visit St. Albans.
