Ok, I know it was £60 room-only but for an international chain, the state of the room was a disappointment. Someone had made a hole in the bathroom door and the bath panel. There was mould in the shower. The bed was old and so very tired. You could feel the individual springs when getting on the bed and it groaned more than I do. Thankfully the trains don't run all night because we were on the railway side and you could clearly hear every train pass. To cap it off, a notice kept flashing on the TV screen saying the service we wanted was not available, which was confusing because the basic signal was fine to watch the TV, it was just the notice that stopped us seeing it. We stayed there a few years ago but don't remember it being that bad. Either we were lucky last time or very unlucky this time, or it is ageing very quickly. Don't think we'll go there again. The people on the desk were efficient and friendly.
Find somewhere else? I can't speak for the road side but I don't remember traffic noise fro...

Please accept my apologies that you were not as satisfied on you most recent stay with us as you have been previously. Had a member of the management team been aware of these issues during your stay we would naturally have endeavoured to put these right for as part of our Commitment to Satisfaction.
The anonymous nature of Trip Advisor does mean that I cannot ascertain the exact room used – it would be useful if you could make contact with me so that I can explore your comments in more detail. We have accelerated a programme of room re-decoration and now have over 50% of our rooms decorated since September. I was surprised to read that you report mould in the bathroom – our Housekeeping team score very highly on audits from Choice Hotels and our recent AA Inspection. I would appreciate you making contact, especially in relation to the bed – we do undertake regular ‘push tests’ and also have a regime of upgrading beds, but clearly this does not replicate sleeping in a bed.
Our televisions are all less than a year old, on occasion, a retune message may appear, especially as available channels on Freeview change. Again, had we been aware of this issue during your stay, we could very easily have remedied this.
