“Good Ale”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Very nice pub, with what looks like a cracking beer garden. Went in Nov so couldn't really use it.
Owned or supported by the Wye Valley brewery. Hence my visit. Cracking pint of HPA.
Good promt service.

And a rare thing pint's under £3....

“No nonsense alehouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Don't live near Hereford but have been here many times over the years as relatives live close by. Excellent selection and quality of ales. Some good ciders. The place always seems busy which is a good sign in these times. Plenty of choice with indoor and outdoor areas. Well-stocked jukebox which is a rarity. A pool table which doesn't appear to be a criminal magnet (even bigger rarity). Always have sufficient and friendly staff behind the bar (non-existent where we come from). Not sure how the prices compare with other Hereford pubs as we don't venture far (certainly not the Queens Head etc) but compared to rip-off Norwich the prices are a bargain.

Wish there was a venue like this where we live.

“Overhyped and can get very crowded”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

If you are looking to go on an all night session and want to start out then this is the place for you, if you would rather a few quiet drinks with some friends then I would suggest finding another venue. Have tried on a couple of occassions to get 'into the spirit' here, but on every occassion left feeling the whole experience was a little flat. I would also try and avoid on a Saturday night as this place gets very crowded very quick (I was challenged by another patron when I walked past his group for the crime of going to the WCs!) On the issue of WCs the standard of cleanliness at the time of my visit was way below standard and I felt dirtier for entering the pit. Also, it is not as conveniently located in line with nightclubs, etc as those on Commercial Road, if you want to go onto one of these I would recommend Yates or the Wetherspoons on that road.

“The best pub in Hereford City Centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

Brilliant real beers and ciders. Loads of space as it gets really packed and large outside area. Always busy with a wide range of people but never any problems. If you like quality beer go there. Always real ales on offer from a range of brewers but lager is a little pricey.
Top tip dont drink lager drink proper beer.
This is not like Wetherspoons it has atmosphere and has table football and allows dogs go there.
After a good night here particularly on a weekend you can then watch the street theatre of Hereford if you fancy a bite to eat.
Also has regular beer festivals.
