What a lovely experience from beginning to end. The only downside for me was the car park which was small and very muddy, and parking outside the hotel to set down/pick up is impossible. However, the staff are welcoming, the room was comfortable (although not cheap); it was warm and clean. Shower was great; good quality/size TV. Fresh flowers, full ice bucket, fruit and port in room. Fabulous, soft clean pillows and comfortable bed. I travel on business very frequently and I hate sleeping on pillows where you can smell the previous occupants of the room! It was lovely and quiet (although I think not full, so may be more noisy when busy, but no complaints). And my morning newspaper was delivered by 6.00 am at the latest which is great - at some places you have to ask for your paper when you go down for breakfast. The food - well, what can I say, the accolades are well-deserved. It is really lovely, and so nice to have breakfast cooked to order. I am actually glad I did not stay longer or I would put on too much weight!
The only thing I would ask is that the hotel put a sign at the entrance to the restaurant stating that mobile phones are not allowed. This restaurant is first class (and quiet because it does not have ridiculous piped music all day/night) and it is a gross intrusion of others' enjoyment when someone carries on a boring one-sided conversation within the hearing of others. Can't people leave the room? I hope the two people who arrived for breakfast on Tuesday 22 November, sat at the same table and then continued their individual conversations/relationship with their phones, completely ignoring each other, are reading this! I can't believe how dense and rude some people can be. No class, in contrast to this fabulous hotel which is nothing but class!
