This place is lovely! I visited with my 4 year old daughter whilst on holiday in Wales (just over the border) and we both had a great time visiting and photographing the animals (my daughter got a camera for her 4th birthday - we've posted some photos that she took). My daughter loves owls and was very impressed by the array of owls on show as well as being extra excited to see reindeer! The owls all had a small (digestible) amount of information about each species on the cages which was very informative and added to the experience.
The other animals were very friendly and keen to be fed too - they have food available to purchase for this purpose. An extra bonus was that these animals (the pigs, goats, donkeys, alpacas etc) were under cover as it was raining. This saved us from getting too wet! Although, we did brave the rain to explore the pond area and see the ducks, geese and black swans.
We also spent quite a long time visiting the rabbits, mice, guineau pigs, chipmunks and chinchillas, which was a pleasure.
We had lunch in the cafe which was really nice. Whilst in the cafe we browsed the gifts that they had available and were able to buy a fun educational book about owls to add to our experience when we got back to our holiday cottage. They had a lovely range of gifts to purchase, catering for all ages.
However, we were most impressed with how helpful the staff were. We actually ended up stranded at the centre as the family members that dropped us off and were due to pick us up later in the day were unable to get back to us. The staff were beyond helpful, they were wonderful! They looked up bus times from the local village for us and the owner (after giving us complimentary drinks from the cafe) even gave us a lift into the local village and didn't leave until our bus arrived to make sure that we got off alright. This was really appreciated!
Wonderful place, wonderful people! Thank you!
