One of my favourite restaurants that I keep returning to. Many Indian restaurants occupy city centre locations, RImjim however is in a rural location just outside Colden Common in what was once an old pub. The interior is an open plan contemporary style which seems to have almost become the standard these days, long gone the rail way style cubicles. Rimjim keeps on top of both its interior and exterior, never allowing it to become tired, always clean and smart! It's an excellent place for both family or business entertaining. The background music is played at a discreet level in a modern, asian style contributing to the ambiance. A spacious, easy car park to the front makes the restaurant ideal for larger gatherings. When I visit there is always a trickle of people coming for takeaways, clearly regulars so a good sign of plenty of repeat business. These days (don't know whether it's an age thing) but I tend to go for mild dishes and my favourite is their Old Delhi curry - a creamy, tasty dish which seems to unique to Rimjhim. My only criticism on the takeaways would be that the amount of chicken to sauce ratio appears to be lower than it used to be. One meal used to be enough for two but not now. Cost cutting to improve margins. I've noticed quite a few establishments reducing portion sizes of late. I guess a sign of the economic times we are in. The welcome is always warm though(and the Cobra beer ice cold), friendly and attentive. There is now a raised area of decking to the front - I guess for smokers otherwise would make a nice area for an aperitif in the Summer. Many thanks Rhimjim and have a prosperous New Year!
