“Weekend Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

First visit to Winchester, the hotel is situated just off the the top of the high street and has a lovely enclosed garden. My room was spacious with en suite bathroom. Slight snag for me was in using the shower it was impossible not to lightly flood the floor !! The room faced south and with the sun beating in, it was a tad warm, but then a more traditional English April this might not be a problem. Staff all very pleasant, although with several larger groups staying breakfast was a bit challenging, especially for the two small toasters......and the few staff on duty. On the whole this is a very nice place to stay, convenient for the city centre. Would definitely return when visiting Winchester.

My wife and I stayed there recently for 5 nights we found the staff helpful, courteous and accommodating. For the last 2 days of our stay we were part of a wedding party and though the hotel did not host the reception, the staff rose to the challenge of having 2 dozen or so wedding guests with a variety of differing requests. There were a number of children in the party and having a secure, secluded garden of generous size allowed them to play freely while the adults could relax.
All in all a very good hotel in the centre of Winchester, ideal for families.

Nice room overlooking garden. Generally clean but found a dirty hanky behind bedside cabinet. Staff friendly and helpful. Best thing is the location only 1 minute walk from the centre. We got a place in the car park no problem about 5pm. Breakfast was buffet style and good. Only disappointment was the dinner. The menu was limited and my partner found it hard to find anything she fancied. Quality of food was average. Staff serving were pleasant enough but lacked experience. The people at the table next to us had their main course given to the wrong table and didn't want it after that and so left. We were on a living social rate so good value. Not sure I would want to pay much more though. We would definitely stay here again at the right price but would go out for dinner.

Dear G_Watson90

Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear of the issue in your room and I will certainly speak with our head housekeeper as we do pride ourselves on our standards of room cleanliness this is an unusual occurrence. I am sorry that you felt that there was not enough choice at dinner, between the starters and main courses we have 17 different dishes? I do trust if you stay again that you take the opportunity to speak with the Duty Manager if there are any issues with the quality of your food as we would have readily addressed this at the time.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

Stayed for 2 nights in room 112. The hotel is a historic building, beautifully restored, charming and unusual. Getting to the room was a bit challenging as the layout is more of a rabbit hole maze. Stairs up and down and left and right. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, bed was comfortable, there is no air conditioning and the windows can't open fully for safety reasons. All in all lovely and worth the stay.

We decided to have a weekend away in Winchester and had booked this hotel through Late Rooms. This hotel is ideal as it is situated right in the heart of town, a minute's walk from the high street. It has a beautiful, secluded garden. The team there were very helpful and accommodating, allowing us to upgrade our room at late notice. We stayed in the Jane Austin Suite, a large room, with equally canvernous bathroom. The room was well decorated and was quiet as it has no rooms above it. The bathroom was fresh and modern with a large tub for two and a vast walk in shower. All in all we had a great and relaxing stay helped by the fantastically comfortable 4 poster bed. Thank you
