After reading previous reviews, I was leery about the last hotel of my 10-day UK stay, the Jurys Inn Southampton. I booked my room in advance via the hotel's website for only £49 a night. It was the best hotel bargain of my trip!

The hotel is located directly in the center of a roundabout -- somewhat disconcerting, as you think there would be extreme traffic noise in the rooms. On the fourth floor, I never heard a peep, traffic or otherwise. I slept like a baby in the room, which was clean, stylishly decorated, comfortable, spacious, nice bathroom.

My only complaint would be the slow service in the hotel bar. It wasn't very crowded, but it took us about 30 minutes to get the appetizer (simple nachos), then another 30 to get our dinners. The food was good, though.

By the way, I accidentally left behind a valuable bag in my room, and it is being mailed back to me. What a novel idea that the hotel's staff would be trustworthy -- more than I could say about a hotel in my homeland of the US!

I would most definitely stay here again.

Lovely hotel, ideally located just 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. The breakfast is substantial and the rooms clean. The staff try to be helpful but are not particularly friendly. Nice bar where tea is served. If you are looking to spend a week-end in Southampton and don't want anything too stylish, you can't fault the Jury's Inn. One great plus is that there is an NCP Car Park next door and if you are staying at the hotel you are charged only £6.00 per 24 hours!

My colleagues and I 9 of us all together stayed at Jurys Inn for two nights between 12-14 November for a corporate event with work, The rooms were fine but the meal we had in the restaurant was unbelievable we first waited 10mins to order our drinks then they arrived 10mins later, And it wasnt even that busy! We waited around half an hour after our starters before our mains turned up, And they had mixed them up.

My colleague who is a diabetic and pregnant had ordered salmon, the salmon came out stone cold! She sent it back they brought it out 5mins later and they had obviously put it in the microwave! Which is extremely dangerous for a pregnant woman! She complained to the manager he just said we will cook you a fresh one! He didn’t seem bothered at all! 20-30 mins later the third salmon arrived she cut into it and it was raw in the middle! And slimy!

They said ok we'll cook another 1! And at this time it was 9.15pm and we'd started our meal at 7.30pm and my colleague as she is diabetic needs to eat very regular and she has not eaten a meal so we walked out went to Bella Italia and had a fabulous meal and one of they waitresses told us about two weeks ago they had dined at "Jurys" And had received the same experience!

Me and my partner recently stayed in this hotel for one night. We booked online and the room cost £69. We were expecting basic accommodation because of the low price and 3 star rating but in my opinion the standard of Jurys Inn far exceeds this. It does not offer a minibar or room service but I have stayed in 4 star hotels that were inferior to this place in many ways.

Our bedroom was large with both a double bed and a single bed, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable with a nice view of the park. The bathroom was clean, spacious, bright and fully functional. The corridors were large and carpeted, we heard no noise at all during our stay, even though the hotel is on a busy road. Instead of a safe in the room there was a personal deposit box in reception, which was very secure as it required two keys to open it. The hotel also had nice sofas in the lobby and a cash machine which was handy.

The reception staff were very professional, friendly and helpful, there was no problem organising a taxi or accessing our deposit box. We checked in quite early about two hours before the check-in time but this was no problem and we were given our room straight away. It was an easy walk into the city centre as the hotel is very central and about a 20 minute walk from the main train station. A taxi to the airport cost about £8.

In the evening we had a fairly-priced pub style meal in the restaurant, and in the morning, nice toast and hot drinks in the café-bar. All the staff were friendly, however the service was quite slow for some reason. Our stay here was a pleasant surprise and I would have liked to stay longer. Whenever I visit Southampton in the future I will not hesitate to stay at Jurys - I highly recommend it to any type of guest.

Having read reviews on this website regarding noise from people coming in late, I was slightly concerned about the fact that we were looking for a quiet weekend retreat. However, I did email the hotel on the day of my arrival expressing my concerns, and they could not have been more helpful. They emailed me back to say they had very few incidents of this nature but at my request the would put me in a quiet part of the hotel. When we arrived the staff were fabulous, nothing is too much trouble for them. They put us in a room on the 7th floor right at the end of the corridor furthest away from the lifts with no rooms actually next door to us. This room was huge. Very clean and spacious, and quiet. We heard nothing from outside at all. They are also treble glazed so no noise from outside either. Perfect. Tea and coffee facilities, Iron on request, plenty of blankets, and spare pillows and great air conditioning. I am one of these people who likes a bit of air conditioning even on cold days, so I did put it on. There is no room service available, but you can get drinks from the bar to take up to your room with no problems. The next morning I rang reception as I thought the hairdryer was not working, my fault as stupid me didn't locate the switch on the wall, however, I had no sooner put the phone down when there was a knock on the door and the engineer was there, Quick Service there. We had breakfast included as part of our reservation deal. At weekends it is open until 10.30am perfect if you want a lie in and they are still cooking and putting stuff out until about 5 minutes beforehand, so its still fresh and not running out. even at that time. It is a buffet help yourself breakfast so you can stuff yourself with full English or continental or both. Everything was there for the taking. The bar staff were great as were the reception staff and I could not fault this hotel at all. Reading other peoples reviews on ths site, I find that any of the complaints they have listed would have been dealt with by the staff if they brought them up who are quite happy to deal with anything. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for them so therefore I would take any grumbles which are on this site about this hotel with a pinch of salt. We absolutely loved it.

  • Liked — The staff, the breakfast, the bar the ambience.
