“Feel ripped off by the takeaway”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We ordered over the phone from a local pub to pick up our food.

When we got there the price difference from our menu (proudly declaring 10% off for takeaway) was £2 more than the FULL price we'd calculated. The gentleman apologised, but when asked for the new menu, apparently they were due in 3 days ago...

When we got the meal home, the cartons were leaking and didn't contain the rice that our menu said was served with our mains.
After we'd cooked some rice, we ate.

On eating we discovered the following;
1) the veggie dhansak was sweet. Like two sugars in your tea sweet.
2) the mottor pahnir was seemingly made of frozen peas and cottage cheese
3) the Bombay potatoes that were apparently cooked with the lamb darjeeling had mysteriously disappeared.

Overall?
We won't be back.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, best food I have tasted in a LONG time. Although it was very busy when I got there, the staff were attentive and helpful. I would recommend that people book in advance, because it was very busy when i arrived. Excellent service with a smile. Would totally recommend and will be going back as soon as possible!

“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

The very traditional layout of tables and the decor in this restaurant make for a possible small loss of ambience, but this is amply made up for by friendly and attentive staff, spotless table linen and sparkling glassware. The menu is quite extensive and includes all of the British curry favourites. The food was well presented, came within a reasonable amount of time and the quality was extremely good. Waiters were attentive but not intrusive.
The restaurant also provides a takeaway/home delivery service with the same high quality dishes. They are a little more expensive than those of their competitors, but this ensures bettter value for money because of a good meat to sauce ratio. Home delivery is sometimes a little slower than average, but, given that the restaurant can be very busy at times, and that the food is freshly cooked, I think this is understandable and acceptable.

“Very good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

A group of 20 of us turned up at the Gandhi without a booking at about 7:30pm on a Thursday. They didn't have a table big enough to accommodate all of us, but they quickly sorted things out and we were seated within minutes.
Despite the number of people in our group, there were not problems with our orders and the food arrived quite quickly. And it was delicious.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
