“Twice in one week”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

Stayed here twice in one week. First stay was in room six - good size and large bathroom although bed could have been a little more comfortable. Then I stayed in room 9. This was a bit of a climb up several stairs but the room was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Only gripe would be that the isn't much space in the shower (above bath) as the ceiling is quite low.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Both breakfast and evening food was tasty and very good value.

We needed a basic room for the night in southampton and just picked something from high up on the trip advisor list. However everything was much better than basic. We arrived very much later than planned, but the hotel was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were nice, the breakfast was good. We've stayed in much more expensive places which offered considerably less.

My wife and I stayed here for one night to attend my sons graduation. The hotel staff we met were very friendly and efficient. The room was very clean and the en suite had a great shower. There was a noise from an extractor fan outside our room (room 6), but it did not disturb me too much. The breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order from a fairly wide range of options. The hotel is located in a very pleasant leafy suburb of Southampton about 15/20 mins walk from the centre or a short taxi ride. There is free parking onsite. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed overnight in Southampton when picking up my daughter from her Cruise ship(she had been working on Queen Victoria). Had stayed in Soton several times but find the hotel rates less than attractive - particularly for a single.Have reported on here before on cheaper hotels that were not up to standard.
I arrived late evening(around 9pm), dropped my overnight bag in the room(was warned about the "no lift" situation on previous Trip Advisor reports, so was not surprised when I got the "Penthouse Suite" - on the top floor - very nice with beams, eaves the lot!!!). looked at the menu on the bar for something to eat and was told - "Don't look at that - the chef has gone home - it was 9.10pm). Offered a sandwich - which I thought would suffice - so I could have a drink + something to eat whilst watching the England game on the TV! Not much choice so I settled for a Cheese sandwich which arrived with a small portion of Doritos - Cost £6.50!!! How much??? - this is a small B&B not the Waldorf! However I was starving following a 4 hour drive from home so didn't have much choice!
Must add, the bedroom itself was spacious, modern shower room(good size as well) and comfortable.
The rate I booked included Continental Breakfast. At the breakfast table I noticed "Continental" included a Full English - which I had and enjoyed!
Overall, yes I would stay here again - although I would find a restaurant in town, but as my daughter has now finished her contract it is doubtful

Room Tip: If you are less able - Ask for a room on the Ground floor - it's a bit of a trek to the 3rd

We stayed here recently with a party of 17 prior to a weekend cruise from Southampton. We took all the hotel rooms and had dinner in the restaurant. The weekend weather was great so we were able to spend the afternoon in the hotel garden enjoying Jugs of Pimms. Evening dinner was great we ordered on arrival at the hotel. Plenty of choice great quality and large portions. Breakfast was good and service was lovely from Claire who really went above and beyond when one of our party spilt orange juice on her white linen trousers before we left for our cruise they had been washed and were ready to pack that really is great service. Would definately stay here again and would recommend to anyone for a pre cruise night - free parking on site (not for the duration of the cruise but whilst at the hotel) was a bonus as well. Easy to find and only 10 minutes drive from the terminal.

Room Tip: If you are particularly tall ask not to be on the top floor...low ceilings!

We had a wedding party here June 2014 with all rooms booked. Reception staff, food, bar and all aspects of hotel very good. Best small hotel we have stayed in for years. Nothing was too much trouble to make us happy. Recommend this to everyone.
