After reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, I expected a hell-hole. That's not what I got: my room was fine, and the bathroom clean and smartly tiled (although there were a few signs in each that a 'refresh' is overdue). Supper in the bar was tasty and fresh, if a little pricey. Service is fine, too, even nudging towards friendly. However... don't expect a business-focused hotel. There seemed to be a lot of building contractors staying here, no doubt lured by the nightly footie on the bar's big-screen TV. This is fine, but if that's your market, you can't charge the same prices as the Novotel and the new Premier Inn. The free wifi (only in the public areas) is painfully slow, and if there is a chargeable, better service, it wasn't offered to me when I asked about wifi. And the worst thing: it's incredibly noisy in the rooms. I sleep like the proverbial, but a lighter sleeper would struggle; you can hear the conversation going on next door, and there was clearly an elephant staying in the room above. It's obviously a huge job to fix this, so it's not going to happen in a hurry - another reason why this place needs to be cheaper.
