“Delicious and freshly cooked”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2015 NEW

We found this restaurant randomly, as nothing else inspired us. And what a good surprise! Service was good but most important food was very tasty. We had the buffet for 10.50£ that had a good variety of starters and main courses. We tried everything. It was delicious and you could tell that it was freshly cooked. We were not hungry anymore for the pudding so I cannot tell you if it is good. I highly recommend this place, very good value for money.

“Great food, terrible service, noisy atmosphere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2015 NEW

Went here for first time with family.

When we arrived they didn't seem to know we had a booking then suddenly found us a table and ushered us in quite rudely with arm gestures and pushing along.

All the staff are VERY busy and quite abrupt. They lean over you to remove glasses and cutlery you won't be needing and once put a sleeve in our food as a result.

The overall feeling is one of being rushed (as per previous reviewer). This is one big production-line... get you in, get your table free and get you out quick because they will no doubt serve food until very late.

The food itself is VERY good, really well presented, but for our tastes too spicy. That is to say if your order Madras you will get a more HOT version (not medium), if you order Korma (because you are not a big hot fan), then you'll get a warm-medium heat Korma.

This restaurant is also very cramped - they have squeezed in as many tables as they can so the space between them is tight when you need to get up, take your coat off etc... you can actually hear everyone's conversation on adjacent tables because they are only 10-12 inches away. When you get up they have to grab their drinks in case you knock them over.

When we were there everyone was commenting about being rushed and poor service. Admittedly it was a Friday night at 9:00pm and they were packed, but I have been in other restaurants like this before and never felt like this. If you are looking for decent Indian in Southampton then look at Jewels!!!!

Based on food quality, this is one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever experienced.. it's fresh, big portions (one curry bowl will do two people), the presentation is good, and the naans, etc.. are all cooked fresh. Just on the hot side.

Based on service, I can only give this place a poor rating - we won't be going back. The Management need to get a grip on their staff, but perhaps it stems from the top anyway.

Were we just unlucky on the night?... I don't think so, I get the feeling that's how they do it there.

Fantastic food, atmosphere and A1 service. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant! Very reasonably priced. We had a large party and they coped with ease. Everyone left happy!
