“Expensive, but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Likes, quality Beer & Food, cleanliness, dog friendly & nice beer garden.
Dislikes, price & lack of atmosphere, outdoor seating very noisy due to main road.

“Bog standard chain pub fare at best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Visited with family for a mid-week quick lunch. Place was virtually empty - a couple of regulars propping up the bar and one other table in the restaurant area taken. Service was reasonably quick and efficient though not especially welcoming or friendly. Drinks no more or less than you would expect in a brewery run (tenanted or managed, not sure) pub. Food was generally unremarkable but acceptable burgers and so on. My coronation chicken baguette was unpleasant however - just a few bits of chicken breast smothered in mayo which had curry powder added to it, tasting raw and with a sawdust-like texture. Lazy. Was disappointed as I had heard good things about this place, especially Sunday carvery. Don't feel inspired to return to check that out for myself.

“Best Rose Wine!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Good food, good rose wine, excellent choice of ales and beers. Service is excellent. Decor and ambience is comfortable and homely. Pets made welcome too.

“Sunday Carvery in busy pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We arrived with about 20 other family members, so it was always going to be busy. Staff friendly if a little overrun at times. Carvery queue was about 15 minutes (but as I said we brought our own queue with us). Beef Pork and Gammon available - Pork was very nice - didn't try te others, but the beef looked a little too well done for my tastes. Selection of vegetables was apt to get depleted, but the staff did strive to keep everything topped up. Nothing serious tyo complain about - typical pub carvery.

“Proper pub, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Have eaten here quite a few times and been disappointed in the past, but recently it has been really good.

Had the chicken and bacon salad on my last visit and it was really fresh and tasty. Staff are friendly and it’s a proper old pub inside, but not dark and dingy!

All in all would recommend for a lunch or night out.
