“BRILLIANT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

This was really interesting my daughter was really surprised how small the statue of Nelson was. Took about half an hour to go round. Did find the lady on duty at the door rather rude, either that or the heat had got to her. She was very off hand. Just waved us through with hardly a glance at the ticket and no response to my son who said hello. Do go you will enjoy it,

“Nelson a hero”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Great museum with a lot about Nelson and his life. For anyone interested in history of England and its struggle with French it was wonderful. Many letters and personal items of Horatio and the tragic EmmaHamilton made museum great.this along with other sailors stories made the museum great. More multilingual signage etc. needed.

“SHOULD BE BETTER”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

It was an expensive experience relative to the size of the museum; basically just two rooms with not a lot to see. There must be an absolute wealth of historical naval artefacts which could be shown, but this was a very thin display. We just went to kill time after seeing the amazing 'Victory', but it wasn't great.

“For an hour, a day or a week.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

The entry ticket to the Historic Dockyard, of which this forms part, is valid for unlimited visits for an entire year. Good job, because there's more than enough in the RN museum to occupy several days' visits.

I'm a big fan of naval fiction - Hornblower, Ramage, Kidd, and above all Jack Aubrey –so to me one of the most interesting exhibits is a cutaway model of a warship from the Napoleonic wars, showing so many details from the water barrels in the hold to the maindeck.

So much to see, so much to learn.

And I'm really looking forward to the new galleries which are now being built. The clue is in the title: HMS - Hear My Story, so it will be the history of the navy as told by the sailors.
Definitely something to look forward to.
