“Super place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Very clean, modern bedroom and en-suite. Friendly and helpful hosts.. Good choice of breakfast, including a vegetarian option. There were facilities for making tea and coffee in my room, always a welcomed gesture. I was travelling alone and felt secure. Louise L

Room Tip: I was on the ground floor and it was very quiet.

Fortitude Cottage was the first B & B we visited and it certainly was excellent. Maggie & Mike made us feel welcome from the moment they answered the door upon our arrival. The breakfasts were delicious with lots of choices. Our room was bright and clean and had a lovely view of the harbour.
The location is perfect for visiting the Historic Dockyard.

This is a fantastic b&b situated in a great location in old Portsmouth a stones throw from the harbour entrance. The owners Maggie & Mike make you feel most welcome & it's there extra little touches that make this such a great place to stay. Well situated with fantastic views & you also have free parking in the car park opposite which always had plenty of space all weekend. This was our second visit & certainly not our last. If only all hotels were run as good as this one.

This was my second visit to Fortitude Cottage and as my daughter came with me, it was a great experience for her. We had a lovely twin room with added touches like a hairdryer which girls cannot survive without. The breakfast is great with a wide choose of options and I would recommend to anyone planning to stay in Portsmouth. Maggie and Mike always make us feel welcome and we love staying here.

I could not fault my stay at Fortitude Cottage. Everything was great. The room was fresh and clean with quality fixtures and bed linen. The bathroom was large with a powerful shower. The complimentary bottled water was also a nice touch.
The breakfast was to die for. It was possibly the best B&B breakfast I've ever had, and trumps all hotel breakfasts I've ever eaten.

Mike and Maggie were so lovely and polite and very welcoming. Such a nice couple.

Over all, my stay was faultless. I would definitely be stay again

Spent the weekend in Fortitude Cottage. Chose the double deluxe en-suite room. Fabulous, very comfortable, big room, lovely decor, lovely bathroom! and views of the harbour and Spinnaker Tower. Mike and Maggie are the friendliest people you could meet, made to feel very welcome. We arrived early and were given a parking permit for the carpark few feet in front of the guest house to use before we were able to book in, so were able to go off and look around. Great breakfast, lovely cafftiere coffee! It is right by the harbour and easy walking distance to the Historic Harbour with the new Mary rose Museum, a visit to Fortitude Cottage is well worth doing.

This is our 3rd stay at the Fortitude, and Mike and Maggie our hosts, welcomed us as always with a warm smile as if we never have been away. The rooms are always done to the highest standard in which I can never fault. Breakfast, especially the scrambled eggs is something not to be missed, and we usually do not need to eat until evening. I would, and do recommend this B&B to any friend wanting to stay in this great location in the old town of Portsmouth.
