“A great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

We visited the aquarium today, our son loved the tanks, especially the sting rays and the large fish in the well lit room (just before the otters).

The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful during the tank (and otter) presentations.

The ticket allows you to leave the aquarium for lunch and then pop back afterwards. The aquarium cafe next door was a great spot for lunch.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

It's OK, but that is it. Do not expect to walk away thinking it was a value for money. In today's world you expect far more. Needs a considerable amount of investment.

“Great to take the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Great day out for the kids (adults as well) be aware you can end up queuing on public holidays. Never heard a complaint about the place, outside attractions as well.

“Great for Little ones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I went with my ficve year old Grandaughter and we had a great time. Educationla for her (and me!) without being too expensive. Not cheap though. We spent about 1.5 hours there, which included some drwaing play for her and twice round the exhibit. This was enough

“Ignore all negative reviews - we had a great time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Went with our 9 year old daughter & 6 year old son and they loved it. We spent a full 2 hours, but could have stayed longer. We read all about the different fish & saw the otters being fed at 2pm. Kids did the fish rubbings (displayed on the wall). My tips are:
1. Search the internet for discount coupons; we got a 20% off voucher from Monster voucher.com
2. ask for paper & crayons at the desk for fish rubbings (£1 deposit which you get back when you hand back the crayons)
3. Check when fish/ otters are being fed
4. Take your time & read what the fish are - this can't possibly be done in 5 mins even if you are a super-fast super human reader.
5. Listen and view a few shows
6. Ignore all the negative reviews.
If the person who wrote the Otter area was smelly had actually taken the time to read about them they'd have discovered they are otters that mark their territory - to cleanse all the area would distress them terribly.
It is small, but very well kept - super friendly staff & really interesting facts, with all the tanks having fish rubbing areas so younger kids can make rubbings - which my 2x loved.
I really feel sorry for the kids that have gone with disappointing parents - a place like this is full of wonder & adventure - if you can make the effort & read all about it to your kids.

My overall verdict - a great couple of hours followed by a promenade walk & all for a decent price (with a voucher).
