This restuarant is our local all time favourite, we don't need any excuse to go out and have a drink or take a table and make a bigger night of it and eat a meal. We had guest come and stay who have been before, and they too were quick to jump at the offer to eat out at 69.
We started off as usual with a cold beer and then straight to asking for a table at the mezzanine as we prefer to be seethed there. It is a good vantage point to take in all the other diners and people at the bar, which helps create and add to the experience. The food, well as we eat there regularly we are moving around the menu, however I must say that there are weekly changes so I suspect we will never quite eat our way to the end.
Starters are a good portion, I had the hock terrine which was just like my mothers recipe. This was popular and three out of the four of us chose it. Mains were chosen with a little second thoughts as to should I be able to eat two mains I would have liked to. Greedy, no just indecisive at the choices. Lamb was delicious and the gravy made the whole dish come together beautifully.
The wine by now was flowing and the conversation fixed on family, imminent celebration of my partners mums 75 birthday surprise get together. By the time the plates were cleared and after some debate on whether we could possibly contemplate a desert we were fit to bust. We decided to decline the desert and finish our evening with one last glass of wine. Great team, fantastic service and a absolute must try if you have not done so. This is a anytime, anyway place to eat. Well done team 69!
