First trip to Zensa this november, stayed a month, will return in january. Warm welcome, fabulous place, simply adored Scarborough, in fact I am tempted to move there! The room was lovely, as was the superb house at Beach Road. Hein and Cyrille make a marvellous team, dinners were superb, with impromptu jazz concerts of world class quality, I felt completely spoiled by all, even zensa the dog! Look forward to more languid days by the pool, and warm balmy nights on the terrace…
Simply can't wait to return!

Room Tip: They are all different! Go regularly and stay in them all!

We had booked an anniversary weekend in November, but unfortunately things changed and we were able to secure a weekend in December. What hospitable hosts (Hein and Cyrille) and the tranquility of the lodge is an experience I will not forget in a long time. We felt at home and the breakfasts were varied and filling. We were asked how we wanted our eggs cooked and the food never ran out, as the bowls and dishes were filled as they got depleted. A nice surprise was the seasonal watermelon served at breakfast. We met lots of new people, foreigners and local Capetonians which added to the enjoyment of our stay as we chatted about all and sundry. We will definitely return!

I booked a weekend special through Groupon, and my expectations were not too high, given the modest price. I was however pleasantly surprised on my arrival. There are excellent facilities, including a lap pool and a sheltered smaller pool ( the wind was extremely strong for most of the weekend), sauna, jacuzzi, free wi-fi etc. Hein and his team were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere throughout was friendly and convivial. Breakfasts were excellent, with superb omelettes, coffee and the best orange juice ever ! We stayed in Ikaya 11, which was of a decent size and spotlessly clean. A small criticism is that the walls seem thin, so one can easily hear the neighbors next door. Overall however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and won't hesitate to return !

Room Tip: If you want privacy, don't choose an interleading room.

We were excited to spend a weekend on the peninsula but this 4 star rated establishment was really a let down. There was no electricity available to the jaccuzi and the steamroom was not opperational either. There were not enough settings for everybody at breakfast and staff were running around and serving us food while being barefoot. Really not 4 star professionally at all.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately we cannot recognise ourself in the details that you mention. The sauna and jacuzzi are, and have been available always to our guests; it is (as we tell everyone at check-in) a matter of asking for these to be turned on. Of course there is ample space for all our guests at breakfast, I wish I knew how the impression was created that there wouldn't be. And definitely our staff will never walk around bare footed; I myself do so some times - but then I am not serving guests at breakfast.
We are very open to constructive criticism, and would gladly and fairly accept points to improve our service, but in all honesty do not know what to do in response to this review.

Having read the reviews booked for 2 nights but left after 1 night. The weather was dreadful with pouring rain so no chance of walking on the beach or sitting and enjoying the views of the ocean - which were not that great anyway. There was no TV in the room, which was very small.
Breakfast was disappointing with items needing to be replenished but only done when asked.
Contrary to other reports we did not find the staff particularly hospitable and nobody bothered to ask why we were leaving early.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Zensa Lodge. We stayed in Molo I, which has a view of the ocean and a great sense of privacy. Our hosts were friendly and inviting - I felt so at home as soon I arrived. The room was cosy but not cramped, and the heater in the room especially helped to combat the chilly wind outside.
We would definitely go back there for our weekends away.
