“Hidden gem near the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

This small hideaway is located in Scarborough, a lovely little village right next to the beach (35 minutes from Capetwon). At night I loved listening to the sound of the Atlantic Ocean while laying in bed. Our room can in a way be compared to a luxurious beach cabana. As for the interior: I loved the 'overload' of all the white (on the floor, on the walls, etc.). The white made the little accessories/design really stand out. Also the extensive use of white gave our room a very fresh, clean and natural feeling. The room has nice bath amenities and a good shower (I've not used the bath as I've simply hadn't the time for it). Zensa Lodge has two pools, one large one and one small one which is heated. I loved laying on the big beds next to the large pool. Furthermore, the breakfast is organic and simple (nice fresh fruit, eggs & bacon upon request, nice bread etc.). At night the vey friendly host Hein van de Geyn will cook. If you're lucky Heyn will play a little jazz tune on his upright bass. We were even more lucky as his beautiful wife Cyrille also tuned in with her beautiful voice. It was a very memorable experience!! We will certainly come back to the Zensa Lodge!

We have rarely seen such a stylish bed and breakfast, without being chic or stiff.
Scarborough is the perfect place to start or to end your holiday in the neighborhood of Cape Town. The Lodge has a swimming pool that really deserves that name. Hein and Cyrille welcome you in an open-hearted way. In the evening we enjoyed a few ‘braais’ and at the end of the evening Hein sometimes can’t resist to play a few jazz-notes on his double bass, right from the heart. Highly recommendable.

We were lucky enough to base ourselves at Zensa Lodge for my daughters wedding on 21st and 22nd December. From the outset, Hein and Cyrille and their wonderful staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make sure that our stay was perfect. The rooms are comfortable, with well appointed bathrooms and the breakfasts were substantial and freshly prepared each morning. The setting is beautiful with immaculately maintained grounds and an awesome lap pool. The beach is a short walk from the lodge. Altogether a memorable stay. "Mother of the Bride""

After having spent some days in the Cederberg Mountains we came to Zensa Lodge for some serious relaxation time. The beautiful beach is within walking distance, as is The Hub, the place in town to enjoy a cup of coffee or lunch. Even though we chose to stay at the self-catering apartment Molo III, we preferred the host Hein's homecooked meals to our own. A masseuse was called in to knead our tense muscles. A campfire was lit to prevent us from getting cold on a chilly night. All in all Cyrille and Hein did everything to make us feel at home away from home. We have no other option but to come back to Zensa Lodge next year!

Room Tip: At this lodge, there are several different types of rooms. Smaller ones for just a couple, but also...

Stayed here for quite some time. The rooms and lodge itself are very nice, however, the owners act not really as hosts, although very friendly. They live their family life and you better 'enjoy' it. They wear bathing suits for most of the day, swim in the pool with guests and friends -> they invite locals for swimming and thet let the property to locals for a weekly happening. So you share the place not only with other 'hotel' guests, but with many more! Not really our understanding of a good B&B! However, breakfast was good, staff very friendly and the nature/surroundings very beautiful! (don't expect anything from the village itself! end of the world feeling!)

We stayed here for 3 nights, everyone was welcoming and pleasent, the breakfasts were good and always served with a smile! In my opinion I feel the room was very stark, lacking warmth in color ( was all white) and whilst there was no small fridge in the room there was a kettle with a few sachets of coffee, the hair dryer did not fit into the adaptor plug that was provided and I felt a bit more attention to detail would have made this stay much better. Scarborough is a place for relaxing and going to the beach, there was only one restaurant we found which was very average - so self catering is a good idea! All in all a pleasent stay, thank you!

I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the homely atmosphere. Hein and Cyrille were the best hosts and I am now planning to take the family (with kids) there on holiday.
