“Excellent restaurant in Tetbury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We were in Tetbury for two nights (but not staying at the Priory Inn). Our B&B host recommended Priory Inn, and we ended up eating there both nights, and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. They are a "30 mile" restaurant, with all the food fresh and local. You can read all about where they locally source all their ingredients. We thought the bread was excellent, we had it as a starter both nights (once with tapenade, once with goat cheese). We had pizza both nights too, it was so good. Ambiance is nice, servers are friendly and knowledgeable. On Sundays they have live music, and we enjoyed that on one of the nights.

We're here for wool sack, terrible customer service, are you a bar or restaurant?? Happy to have customers drinking then tell them to go outside because you have diners in at 7??? Shut in the day then. And tell potential customers your only interested in diners in the evening?? Second time we have been made to feel uncomfortable here despite the fact we live here and spending money in your establishment. Won't make that mistake again.

Regularly go here, is worth the money, have also had takeaways for work lunches. Favourite is the pork pizza, garlic bread could do with improving. But we'll worth the food and atmosphere, shame can't park here on nursery run anymore though :-(

We booked a Saturday night stay and were offered dinner, bed and breakfast for a package rate that turned out to be very good value. Staff were attentive and helpful and the room turned out to be very comfortable despite one or two niggling faults that took the edge off for us. However they weren't things that can't be rectified (our tv needed constant retuning and the window had a blind but no curtain so the room was brightly lit from dawn) and the management seemed pleased to hear our feedback. But the food turned out to be the best part as we ate heartily with no restrictions on our choices despite the package rate. I ate a timbale of fish that was the tastiest I've ever had followed by venison haunch that was tender and rich. My wife enjoyed her lamb and fish starter as well and if we had to find any fault I would say that the house wine was a little expensive at £17.00. However, the service, friendliness of the waiters and the all round dining experience was excellent and when you add in the quality of the hearty breakfast of tasty local poduce I would happily go there again.

Room Tip: No tips to add but be wary if you are someone who wakes at daylight as the windows don't have cu...

Booked the dinner, bed and breakfast package which is very good value - the food and service in the restaurant are excellent. I loved the fact that the food was local and that the staff had visited the suppliers so could talk knowledgeably about the food.

The rooms are quite basic, although the beds are large and comfy and the small bathroom has lovely towels. Had we not had the package I would have been disappointed in the rooms for the rates, they are dull and tired. Some effort has been made to improve them but a full refurbishment is needed. The emphasis so far has been on the public areas and garden which are lovely.

Stayed 2 nights in April 2013. Very easy to deal with on the phone when making the booking and we were offered the upgrade to include three course dinner for £20. This offer includes all items on the menu and is simply a fantastic deal. If you went for the most expensive dishes you would be eating for almost half price. Rarely have I seen a menu where I really do want to eat all the dishes but the menu here is just superb, especially if you're a meat eater. Their locally sourced venison and steak are beautiful. Pizzas, freshly made, were delicious (albeit with some non-traditional toppings) especially with local pepperoni and chorizo. A good selection of local beers completed my day. Staff were enthusiastic, interested and attentive: nothing was too much trouble for them. Although a three star hotel the quality of the food makes this a destination hotel.
