“Fabulous colours!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

This was a fabulous attraction which we had in the diary for several weeks. After the recent storm I had wondered if there would be any leaves left on the trees. The colours were absolutely magnificent and I ended up with over 200 photos. We were lucky that we had very good weather when we went but were prepared with wellies, gloves and warm coats - pretty normal for November.

Yes, it was a fair trek from the car park to the main attraction but the parking was well organised and everyone was very friendly. The bacon and sausage baps were pretty good value as they were very large and very tasty.

Can't wait to visit again and plan to go every season. I would definitely recommend this.

“Glorious day out at Westonbirt.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We travelled from Stroud for a visit here, and although there were many cars parked, our walk here was very quiet & enjoyable. The weather last Friday was cloudy/bright, and we had our wellies for the muddy areas. The Acers were lovely to see, red/yellow & orange. We enjoyed tea and cake in the cafe, and hope ti re-visit soon.

Take a picnic! The restaurant food though very nice is a rip off. £2.75 for a scone etc.

A really great day out otherwise.

“Nice but there are plenty of places just as nice for free?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Thought Westonbirt looked nice on the internet so decided to haul the kids an hour from S.Wales to come here. It is very pretty. A lot of the paths were very muddy and there were various dogs wandering around in the "no dogs" areas. The central area was nice with cafe, toilets etc... but it was absolutely heaving and we actually gave up trying to get a coffee.
We printed off the kids activity sheets from the website and a few of them were really good although a lot of them were hard for the kids to match up what we looking for. There are various different versions of the map available and they all give you a different suggested route to take around the park, we obviously chose the wrong one so the sheets weren't making a lot of sense.
All in all this is nice but when comapred to places like Forest Drive in Cwmcarn (FREE entry on foot and £5 for a car), St Fagans in Cardiff (FREE entry and £3 car park) and Big Pit in Blaenavon (FREE entry and £3 car park) the £23 (2 adults, 1 child and 1 free toddler) entry fee for Westonbirt does seem to represent poor cost to entertainment value?

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your visit.

We can get busy during autumn as it is our most popular time of year for visitors. We do work hard to make sure that dog free zones are respected by all of our visitors by putting in place signs and marking them on our maps, but when we are very busy it can be difficult for us to make sure that this is observed by everyone. We are working on ways to ensure dog free and dogs on leads areas are respected more consistently throughout the year.

We are sorry that you found range of activity sheets and trails on offer confusing - it may be that the sheets you downloaded were designed to be used independently of the seasonal trail map, and we'll take a look at our downloads section to see if we can be clearer about this.

We do aim to deliver an experience which is good value for money, and your admission fee is vital in helping us to maintain and develop our collection of 15,000 specimen trees from around the world so that our visitors can enjoy them, as well as all of the visitor facilities we have here.

We hope you'll visit again in the future!

“Soggy but beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

It was a wet day, and some of the paths were a bit muddy, but the Acer walk was at its peak with glorious golds, yellows and reds. The rain on some of the trees made them even better. Well worth a visit, take willies just in case. Plenty of walks for dogs BUT not in the Acer walk.
