“lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

I only booked on the day, very quickly, without really checking much out about the hotel.

When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was just lovely, bathroom fab, with amazing shower and victorian free standing bath. The concierge was most helpful and charming too.

Breakfast was delicious too.

The only thing I was disappointed with, was that a deposit was taken from my card, without my permission and my partner was supposed to be paying for the room. Other then that and no milk with tea/ coffee facilities I cannot fault the Grapevine and very much hope to return soon.

The Hotel it's self is lovely, but the food lets the hotel experience down..... Stop at the hotel but eat else where to avoid being disappointed..... Friendly staff is a plus + .Would definitely visit the Cotswolds again as it's a charming place with a a lovely vibe about the place......

We booked the Grapevine after reading the great reviews on here. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to everything in Stow. The staff were extremely friendly giving us a really nice welcome and showing us to our room.
The room was ok with an average size bathroom. However my first thoughts were that the room was not as clean as it could be, it seemed quite dusty and the carpet looked like it could have done with a really good hoover. The breakfast was nice with great choice of both cooked and continental but the service was quite slow and it was an effort to catch the waiter's eye.
One thing I found quite strange was on our second night we returned to our room which had been cleaned but they had left our drink glasses from the night before on the side (a half finished glass of beer/empty wine glass). Also there were great tea and coffee making facilities with a box full of different choices but no milk!
All in all an average stay and a little disappointing as it wasn't cheap at £150 a night. Expected more. Wouldn't return I'm afraid.

This hotel is small, and has friendly staff and a homely feel about it. Well situated in a fine Cotswold town, it has an interesting restaurant, serves a good breakfast - full English - but seems to book up early so we were unable to get a dinner reservation before 2030. Car park is from road at rear and we found no difficulty in parking. I believe rooms at the front are a bit noisy, but my room at the back was very quiet. This was a good choice for a short stay for a visit to Longboro' Opera.

We thought the room and food were fantastic. The only thing wrong was the rain!! We would recommend a stay and the deal we had included a bottle of champagne which they let us drink when we went down to the bar and in the restaurant which we thought was great.

Only ate in the restaurant (did not stay in a room)

The quality of the food did not match the lovely restaurant setting and was very disappointing.

I started with a game terrine which was quite small and lacked flavour. We both then had the ribeye steak, salad and with chips cooked in goose fat - lovely chips!. The salad was nothing to write home about, no other vegetables like tomato or mushrooms and the steak was so thin it was impossible for the chef to cook medium rare.

Excellent rooms, good food and a good atmosphere. We spent 3 nights in this lovely Cotswold Hotel, very friendly staff, good food and a very comfortable bed made for a relaxing break with our friends. If I was being picky I would say that the wine list is rather short for a hotel of it's standard, otherwise nothing to worry us at all.
