We were staying in Painswick and had been told about the Beacon. We were lucky enough to have bright sunny weather and started our walk from the village. The walk is part of the Cotswold Way and well signposted once you are at the top of the village. The walk takes you through the local golf course and one of the players told us that hole 9 is one of the top ten holes in the country. The views from the Beacon itself are amazing, and surrounding areas are pointed out on the Beacon monument itself. We have visited the Cotswolds many times but this was our first visit to this particular area and it has become our favourite. We continued our walk to Pope's Wood and Kite Hill, well worth doing. We stopped in the golf club house for coffee before returning to the village. A memorable day.
