“Superb experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Just spent three nights at this lovely hotel and cannot speak highly enough about it - the staff, the food, the whole experience. The building is several centuries old, so you get the quirks that accompany that kind of age: uneven floors, creaky hallways, sink that doesn't drain rapidly ... but those issues are more than compensated for by the friendliness of the staff, the calibre of the breakfast that is included (strongly recommend the Eggs Benedict), the ambiance of the pub, and the courteous amenities: newspaper, reading rooms, outdoor patio, spaciousness of the room (we stayed in the American twin), and the cleanliness. This stay has been followed by a stay at a Hilton in Birmingham and have to say, sorely missing the White Hart experience.

We live in Moreton and have been to the White Hart for drinks quite a few times: it is an atmospheric, cosy pub. We went to the restaurant today for Sunday lunch, as we were dragged off the street by the eye catching "2 courses for £10.95". The restaurant is nicely done out, bit camp maybe for a Cotswold restaurant, but the staff were very nice and were accommodating to our two young children. The menu was very appealing and we both had belly pork with potatoes in mustard sauce to start with, followed by the roast beef. It was excellent. Really great value and Hook Norton ales on tap. Great.

Just spent two nights at this lovely hotel. Food and service excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating. Took our dog with us and he was made to feel welcome also. Pretty courtyard where you can eat and drink outside and good spot for exploring Cotswolds villages.

Food good
Staff very helpful
Hotel in good position for touring the cotswolds
We found restaurant to be a confined space especially at breakfast time
The room was opposite the patio area of hotel where people would drink/eat sometimes into the early hours of the morning so room very noisy
Our room in converted stable block with wet room,1 king size bed & air conditioning
Few windows so room quite dark
Car parking on site very limited

Room Tip: Our room was No. 301 - very noisy & quite dark

When we arrived we were told our booked room was taken!! not a good start..but then after a bit of waiting it got sorted..The receptionist apologised.. If you have your four legged friend with you , this is the place to stay..The Oxford Garden Room 304 ( a walk outside ) to the back of the hotel is perfect..There was even a goody bag for our dog.. Nice large room & patio door onto private garden, comfy bed and sofa and a super spacious bathroom & separate shower. We parked our car right outside the room..perfect.
Breakfast was delicious..and you can eat in the bar at night and have your dog with you.
There was no dvd player..but the Wi-Fi worked fine.
I think the room should have wooden flooring instead of carpet, just for hygiene and a hook on the back of the bathroom door.
We would stay again and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 304 has a good garden not overlooked, and it is very quiet.

i spent several hours looking online for somewhere to stay for my first wedding anniversary and discovered the white hart royal which seemed to tick all the boxes with good reviews, nice rooms and a reasonable price. We stayed in the King Charles suite which was fantastic. It had a large room and bathroom and seperate lounge and very tradditional in style. It faced the front of the hotel onto a busy road but we didn't find the traffic noise bad. The hotel is lovely and so is the breakfast. The reason i haven't given this 4/5 star is as follows,

My mum and dad thought it would be nice to pay for a bottle of wine to be put on our table for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. My mum phoned the night before and paid for the wine. The following night my wife and i went down for dinner and no bottle of wine appeared. As it was a surprise we weren't aware there should have been one and ordered our own. It wasn't till we got home from our trip that after speaking to my mum we realised they'd forgotten about the wine. What a shame on such a special occasion. My mum phoned the hotel and they refused to refund the money without looking into what happened. A couple of days passed and my mum never had a call back so phoned again where they agreed to refund her but still with no explanation, again they promised to call her back and explain all. Its already been several days and still no call back.
I find this level of service terrible. To forget the wine that had been pre-paid is bad enough but to not give a refund straight away and fail to call back with a decent explanation and apology is just terrible. Such a shame as the hotel is lovely but i certainly won't be returning as there are so many good hotel closeby.

I was so sorry to hear that the wine pre-ordered by your mother was not presented to you during your stay. It was a lovely gesture on the part of your parents and we are all extremely disappointed with ourselves that it was missed. Please be assured that a full refund and apology has been made.
I am pleased that you both enjoyed your stay with us and that you loved the King Charles Suite. We would of course love to see you both again to give us the opportunity to make amends for the oversight on our part with the bottle of wine.

Family of 4 stayed one night in 2012. This hotel offers a great base if you want to tour around the local area. Each room is very different and since the building was an old coach house offers special features, like low ceilings, sloping floors, wood panels or old beams.
We had our evening meal and breakfast in the small restaurant, both meals excellent in both presentation and quality. Found the staff to be very friendly, would not hesitate to stay here again and can assure anyone booking this hotel you will not be disappointed.
