5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

Beautiful courtyard, lovely rooms. Great breakfast, light or hot available. Will cook you a full English breakfast if you wish. Has a pretty well stocked bar if you wish to have drinks in the courtyard.

Steve, Lisa and Phil were very personable and accommodating

My only negative comment would be, if you want a quiet room ask for one in the back, those facing the front road have some road noise from passing cars.

It was a pleasure to have you all here, the weather was delightful for you. We hope that you equally enjoyed London as much as Cheltenham. Lisa & Steve Gould

This is one of the best we have had the pleasure to stay in. Nicely positioned within minuites of the city centre. Your host are a fantastic couple who are very friendly, the house is ran with pride and enjoyment. A great place to stay, superb food and a really relaxing "feel at home" atmosphere. In particullar we felt the room was superb, when we have used "family rooms" in the past we have seen a huge difference in standards between the standard rooms and the family room that where offered, not here the room was glorious. Highly recommended and would certainly visit again. A really nice place to stay.

I travel extensively for work, and the Hilden House is definitely one of the better places I've stayed. The friendly staff are welcoming and helpful, and the rooms are very comfortable. Excellent value for money. Cleanliness was exceptional. This is now my new go-to hotel when visiting Cheltenham.

Arrived quite late and struggled to find parking - ended up parking around the corner.

The owner greeted me with two keys (one for the room out back and other for the front door) and a booking-in sheet, as well as a permit to display in my car so it wouldn't get towed away if parked in a resident's spot. It was clear from the paperwork laid out on the tables that he was fully prepared for other guests showing up.

No evening meals were possible (breakfast only) but he gave me a brochure for a nearby restaurant (which was exceptional) as well as a quick printout of google maps, identifying places where I could bring a takeaway meal back to use the hotel breakfast room (and supplied plates/cutlery).

The rooms are in a separate block out back, requiring a trip through the hotel to access. With the frost I thought it could be a chilly night, but the small room was cosy and very welcoming, decorated as though it was a friend's bedroom. Bathroom clean and proud.

Unfortunately the free WiFi didn't extend to the rooms out back, but I was happy to sit in the breakfast room and access it from there. I didn't stay for the breakfast but did enjoy my stay - the owner was certainly very hospital and nothing seemed to be any problem for him.

Oh what a shame you didn't tell one of the staff that the Wi-Fi wasn't working, we would have looked into it for you. Sorry about that. It is now fully working for everyone else. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Lisa Gould, Manager

A large group of twenty people stayed at the hotel for the weekend - everything went really smoothly from the warm welcome on arrival to the delicious cooked breakfasts. All the rooms were of a good standard with good showers and very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

A Nice little Hotel within walking distance of the town centre, arrived on a cold dreary Sunday night feeling pretty shattered after a long drive from kent so nice to see a smiling face on arrival and made to feel very welcome, The room was very nice indeed very modern and very clean with a nice size shower cubicle for a single room, only criticism I have is I was told the next morning the heating goes off at 10pm unfortunately I woke up a couple of times in the night feeling very cold and found it difficult to get back to sleep looked for a blanket in wardrobe but none to be found, it was early hours of the morning so did not want to get dressed and try and find one - the breakfast certainly made up for me being chilli in the night though as it was superb with lots of tea and toast. overall would go back and highly reconmend - if you feel the cold though ask for an extra blanket I'm sure one would be provided.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay here. Yes, we definatly have extra blankets, big fluffy ones. That was a very cold weekend, and spare blankets had not yet been placed into some of the rooms. We are sorry that you felt chilly, we could have prevented that. However it appears that you enjoyed your stay, please come and see us again. Lisa & Steve
