“Excellent location and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

Stayed on Sunday & Monday nights so hotel was very quiet but had good price as a result. Easy to find, parked underneath for £5 a day. Excellent location 5 mins walk from High St (shops) and The Parade (pubs/restaurants), 10 mins from Montpelier area (shops/pubs/restaurants). Reception staff very friendly. Double room on 3rd floor was nicely finished, with spacious en-suite. Breakfast was adequate - sausages, bacon and boiled eggs or selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts etc. A very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Some noise from street below in front rooms.

We stayed on a Friday night, hotel in good spot in the centre of Cheltenham. Own car park with limited spaces, (about 1/3 of which are disabled spaces) charged at £5 a night. There is a distinct 'IKEA' feel about the whole place which we rather liked, it's fresh & fun, but does lack any sort of atmosphere. Room (on 4th floor) was clean, spacious, excellent bath and wet room. Bed very comfy, we slept very well. Breakfast was fairly basic, but If you like a bacon butty and fruit juice you won't be disappointed! If you want charm, log fires and velvet cushions this is NOT for you, but for a fun place to stay for a night out on the town with a deep bath and a comfy bed, it's just the ticket!

Mr Malkovitch should be ashamed..........This hotel exemplifies everything that is wrong with the UK hotel business. I stayed here for work in September 2011 and was embarrassed to tell anyone I had.
Staff were unhelpful from the start, not even showing the room or explaining anything about the stay. Car park basement had pre-booked spaces, but on request I was told I was unable to reserve one. If you do park be prepared to pay an extra £5 per night, and another payment for internet access. I never did get the room safe fixed in the 6 nights I spent there, despite asking for this.
Tea/coffee cups in room were rinsed (if that) and left with stains in every day. Bed linen was left on even when my wife's mascara covered one side of the pillow. The room decor was shabby - the telephone came off the wall when picked up, curtains were tatty, bathroom basin unclean and overall feel grubby - not sure how it actually got a Civic Award! The bar was a hole in the wall, usually deserted, and communal spaces felt uninviting (not helped by staff attitude).
Breakfast was a sorry experience - unless you like packet cereals, cold boiled eggs, rubber bacon, cardboard sausages and a battle with the toasters - take your pick, neither will do the job......And each night was spent tossing and turning in an uncomfortable bed with the sounds of local drunks and seagulls keeping you awake between midnight and 4am.
Only book this hotel if you are doing it for someone you don't like.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere

We have stay at this hotel numerous time before and thought we would be treated as valued customers, however our recent stay was horrid and find it a real shame the hotel has gone so down hill.
The noise level outside was incredible, and we barely slept, the room was dirty needed a really good hover and the curtain smelt. The bathroom was in a serious need of a paint job as it was peeling, and the bath it self was dirty. A pet hate is being given only two pillows for a double bed, although to others were supplied there was no linen for them.
Also if you paying £70 a night a decent breakfast would be nice rather than a broken toaster and a hard boiled egg! We ended up going to a cafe to get a decent breakfast.
I can’t complain about the front desk they are very helpful. But this hotel is defiantly not worth the money.

Having visited both the Cheltenham and the Cardiff Big Sleep Hotels, I have to say the Cardiff hotel is much better for both location and quality than the Cheltenham! The hotel itself is ok for what it is, after all, it is a budget hotel, but it was quite difficult to get to, what with all of the one way roads in Cheltenham, and it was down a small backstreet, and also not that close to the main city centre. The on site parking is down a ramp in an inside locked car park- but the spaces are ridiculously small! Took us at least 5 minute to park up. We stayed on a Saturday night for a couple's shopping getaway for a bit of relaxation. But, unfortunately, we were woken up by people loudly coming home from the pubs and clubs for most of the late night/early morning.
The breakfast was nice, and was just perfect to grab and go, and is included in the price. The room facilities are good enough, but compared to the likes of Travelodges which are around the same price, the Big Sleep Standard Room is quite small.
Not an awful hotel, but have been to much better value hotels than this one, and would probably not visit again.

I stayed here with a colleague for work purposes. It is comfortable and clean but we needed earplugs. My room was quite near the road and there were people outside talking most of the thursday night plus cars pulling up. Friday night was worse, with the boom of a bass line up until about 4am. My colleague could not sleep at all as her room was nearer to the club. It's a shame as we have always enjoyed staying here and the breakfast is great . As we come here for work , we do need to sleep so will be considering somewhere else if we come next year.
