My partner and I spent the bank holiday at this gorgeous little hotel in Cleeve Hill, about 5 minutes drive from Cheltenham. It is a family run hotel and it was the small touches which made us feel special, including the chocolates in the bedroom that were restocked daily! The views were spectacular and the location was ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. I have to mention the breakfasts - absolutely delicious....
We had the four posted bedroom which was reasonably priced. The only thing which could have made it even better than it already was, was a remote for the TV (and the positioning of the TV!)...this is getting pernickerty, but there really was nothing to complain about.

As a business traveller, I am more used to the Hilton and Holiday Inn Express experiences. What a welcome change! I stayed overnight at the Cleeve Hill Hotel on 18/12/05 and fully enjoyed the friendly and personal touches provided by Jo and the team. The views from the hotel are spectacular but more importantly, the friendly service, wonderful breakfast and 'authenticity' made my stay memorable. For £55 B&B, the Hiltons of this world just cannot compete with this traditional English hotel. Would highly recommend it for those attending meetings in the Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury areas. I'll be back......

Firstly the good - kind and friendly staff, spotlessly clean, great breakfast and good local knowledge.

We had a fine two-night stay in October 2005 (having found this B&B in TripAdvisor).

But....well: the name gives away some of the confusion. Is this a small hotel, or a large B&B? In fact I think, as the name suggests, Cleeve Hill feels like a small hotel - but suffers as a result from unkind comparisons with the facilities available at even smaller hi-quality hotels.

On the other hand it is too large (?9 rooms I think) and has 'staff' who come in and so on to count as the real "B&B" experience.

So, no disrespect Trevor, I think this should be marketed as a small hotel (as the name you have chosen suggests).

We paid 90.00 GBP per night for a two-night stay in October and I think this would have been significantly over-priced compared to the 'luxury B&B" competition (we stayed in some fab smaller B&Bs during our 10-day vacation that were generally averaging at 60.00 GBP for a double room per night including breakfast.) So I reckon that you end up paying a 30.00 GBP premium for Cleeve Hill - and after all that's a 50% premium!

On the other hand, if it's a small hotel, it lacks some of the facilities that you would expect to see by default in even the mid-market chain operations.

Don't get me wrong - we had a nice stay - but we decided as we drove away that we could have done better...certainly for the rather full price!

The service we received at Cleeve Hill was above and beyond expectation. So thoughtful and friendly, we felt right at home. All the recommendations were spot on and they made our trip that much more enjoyable. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and well kept. The view out of the windows on the front of the house was impressive. The view out of the back of the house was upon a hillside where sheep graze and where you can take a short walk up to an amazing vantage point to see the whole area. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices and more than ample servings. We can definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
