“Absolutely gorgeous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Cannot fault the restaurant, from the moment you enter to the moment you leave, it's fantastic. Food is a little pricy but the quality and quantity of food more than makes up for it. Would highly recommend

“Well recommended and did not disappoint!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We visited the Glasshouse on a Friday evening at approx 7pm. We booked a table, their minimum for reserving a table is 6 people which suited us but unfortunately 2 of our group could not make it so we were moved to a smaller table which is fair enough, the place does get very busy.

On entering the place we were greeted with smiles from the staff, they were all welcoming and friendly. One thing i particularly liked was the fact that the landlord was enjoying a drink at the bar with some regulars but he made a point of saying hello which was really nice. I noticed too that as soon as it got busy he jumped in and helped out, seeing to customers and checking everyone was ok.
A lovely personal touch that is rarely seen these days and shows the guy takes pride in his business.

So, having taken our table we ordered duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes, fish and chips, and the other 2 had vegetable lasagne.
The food came reasonably quickly and was certainly worth the wait.
The fish was HUGE! They do offer a smaller portion but you might wish you'd picked the larger one once you've tasted it.
I had the duck breast which was superb. The dauphinoise is an extra £2 but i happily forgave this for it being so good.
Our friends both had veggie lasagne and raved about it.

We opted for eton mess, cheesecake, profiteroles for pud. All were great and a nice finish to a lovely meal.

Atmosphere was perfect, a lovely country pub feel and with the friendly staff, open fires and friendly landlord, our experience was one we would definitely go back for again.

Overall the bill for 4 mains, 3 puddings and a round of drinks came to approx £75. This place is not the cheapest but good value for money considering the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
We look forward to returning!

“Great Pub with good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

This is a great pub, open fires, low beams and great pub food. One issue is that the real ales (2) are drawn direct from the barrels behind the bar, which I know is not to every beer drinkers taste, but all the pints I had were fine. We had 5 visits in October & every meal was spot on. The basics were always right, good chips, fresh veg, generous portions, friendly efficient staff, & the bonus was a superb Thai chicken curry complete with prawn crackers! It was busy every time we visited, even midweek in the rain when other places nearby were empty. Say no more.

“Great in every respect...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Great food, great atmoshere & well run.
We have never been disappointed, go here about once a week and will be back for more!
I recommend the Beef Stroganof although I would rather keep it to myself really!
The owner does everything to ensure everyone gets a table and does a great job - worth waiting a few minutes to get a table.

“Lovely Setting, terribly management!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

Everything you expect of a country pub - a simple yet full and fabulous menu. The beer garden and inside restaurant are ideal with plenty of space. When the food arrived it was everything I expected and more my fillet although pricey was cooked to perfection and worth every penny!
The staff attentive and very accommodating. You may wonder why I have given this a poor rating and that can only be one reason the OWNER!!!!!
Once you have seen the owner shout at his staff and then shout at you the customer there is no going back!
Surely the only reason people go out is to escape from every day issues had I known I would be shouted at for spending a £100 I would have stayed at home.
