Having read the reviews on tripadvisor I was really looking forward to trying this place. The restaurant is rather staid and old fashioned but was expecting that. What I wasn't expecting was to not feel welcome and for the lady servicing us to be abrupt rather than friendly. We ordered our food and wine, the first problem with the meal was the venison strips these were so fatty, overcooked and swimming in the sauce (which was also tasteless) that it couldn't be enjoyed and I left most of the meal. Obviously I was still hungry so decided to order dessert, before ordering I checked with the waitress whether the pavlova was a true pavlova or just crunchy meringue with cream on top, I was assured it was authentic. Sadly i was disappointed it was just very crunchy meringue not soft centre!!! Do crunchy I was scared to cut into it for fear it would flick across the table. The young man who bought the food to the table seemed so scared he was physically shaking, which seemed a real shame, as we like to interact with the people serving. The final disappointment was the bill - grossly overcharged without an apology. On balance this restaurant would appear to give good value with it's 2 and 3 menu, however if you a looking for good, fresh cooked food (not from a microwave) then I would seriously avoid this restaurant.
