“VERY DISAPPOINTED”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

After I had been looking forward to visiting this village for a while and excited about eating in such a beautiful pub, I was extremely disappointed with it. The staff were miserable and didn't seem to have the time to speak to me, the waiting time for a sandwich was over half an hour, the tables were filthy, the cutlery dirty, the meals very overpriced, the side salad very dry and boring with no dressing etc. A portion of chips cost £2, of which there were only a small bowl full, which seemed to have been done in the microwave, pale and hard in the middle. I would not visit this place again.

“Completely average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Popped in with my wife for a quick lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was absolutely packed, almost entirely (if not wholly) with tourists. We were told there was a 45-minute wait for food, which normally would have us running for the hills. However, everywhere else was packed in Bourton (which tells you what it must be like in-season!) so we stayed and waited.

Ordered the tuna jacket potatoes, which were utterly average for the price. Side salad was dull and unimaginative: no relish or dressing at all. The potato was reasonably sized but the tuna was not sizeable at all.

This was washed down with a pint of Hobgoblin, which was fine, and a diet Pepsi.

It was fine for a quick lunch, but not good enough to ever tempt us back.

“Welcomed the adults, children and the dogs.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We booked the Kingsbridge in Bourton for Sunday lunch for our group of 6 adults, 2 children, 1 toddler and 2 dogs - it was a leap of faith for them as I would assume due to their position they are always busy and, staying in Blockley, we could not be contacted as we had no mobile phone coverage and did not know the landline number of the cottage we were renting.

Other members of our party had eaten out in the large garden area in the summer and were keen to return.

When we arrived our table was already set up including a high chair and cutlery for the toddler there was room to fold up and stash the buggy and for the dogs to lay under the table.

This was quite a large party but all the correct food arrived together they even bought a plate for the toddler who we had not ordered a separate meal for. My roast beef was cooked to perfection and there were no complaints from anyone.

Eating in a largish group with the children/dogs as well is often quite stressful this was not the case at the Kingsbridge so we would definately return.

“Go elsewhere. Anywhere else.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

How sad that this beautiful village hosts such a terrible pub with a completely miserable staff. I'd be willing to look past their rudeness, but just couldn't stomach eating the food once I saw how filthy our table and my child's high chair was. Absolutely disgusting. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.

Heed the warnings of all the reviews and go somewhere else. There are plenty of better options within seconds of this pub.

“Crowded but the food was good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We went mid-September and it was very crowded indeed, but so was everywhere else! We found a table outside, a few wasps around, but the tables were being cleared very quickly, no plates etc left on tables. The food was reasonably priced, and of the 7 of us eating only 1 was disappointed . It was quite strange, as 6 of us had enormous portions, and one had just 6 pieces of mezzaluna (ravioli is what it seemed to be) in a tiny dish! We just shared out our other meals. I had lasagna, huge portions, served with garlic bread, very good value and very tasty.
It was too crowded and too hectic to be a really relaxing lunch but as a cheap and cheerful place it was fine. The staff we encountered were all polite.
