“Great day at Bibury Trout Farm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We travelled here for a bank holiday day out. I took my son (7) and partner. The Farm was very busy as expected on a bank holiday, but there was overflow car parking available. We paid for entry, which I considered very reasonable and for some trout food, also cheap. The banks to the side of the ponds were very busy with large families that were picnicking. It was difficult to access some of the paths due to sheer volume of people, but there were still plenty of places to walk to. The shop and cafe were lovely and my son enjoyed the play area, although it was again taken over by large families picnicking, making us feel as though we were intruding in their space, as they were sitting in large groups by the equiptment.
I would visit again, although perhaps at a time that is less likely to be as busy.

“Feed the fish then eat them!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Always amusing feeding the fish, however the only reason for writing this review is that the hot smoked trout that they sold in the shop was utterly mind blowing. Great to add to a picnic or as a sashimi snack!!!

Overall a lovely day out to an intriguing and unique attraction in a beautiful setting. I would recommend spending the morning here then eating at the wonderful local pub.

“Lovely for an afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

To share another reviewers' opinion on feeding the trout, it is indeed very therapeutic! We decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon as we hadn't visited Bibury before. We went into the trout farm first (handy free parking) and once you pay the entrance fee, your hand is stamped and you can come and go as you please. We had great fun feeding the insatiable trout, and found the surroundings to be really lovely to amble through on a sunny day. There are BBQ areas dotted about along with picnic benches, presumably where you can cook your catch (you can fish there and hire rods, with the help of the staff, which also looked great fun), which seemed a very nice touch. They have a cafe, fish shop (if you'd prefer to simply buy some fresh trout rather than catch it yourself) and a play area for children. A great place to visit for children and adults alike, and a nice pub up the road called the Catherine Wheel which did light pub grub and pizzas etc, all reasonably priced. The famous row of medieval cottages in Bibury is very pretty indeed, and a real draw for tourists. We'd definitely recommend the trout farm, and will probably go ack to try our hand at the fishing!
