We have just got back from a weekend at Maison Talbooth, which was simply wonderful! We stayed in the Masefield suite, one of the 3 principal suites at the hotel. The rooms are all individually themed, our room was gorgeous large with french doors which led out to a private terrace with hot tub. The bathroom was large with double bath, shower cubicle and his and hers basins. As the weather was good whilst we were there, we made use of the open air infinity pool and jacuzzi, which was set in a walled area a short distance from the main hotel. It really had the wow factor with an amazing pool house which included sofas, plasma tv, outside fire etc. We had dinner at Le Talbooth which was lovely too, and the hotel offer a courtesy car to take you there and pick you up. We also used the treatments rooms for massages and facials, all first rate. It really was an amazing stay, the hotel, staff and restaurant were simply amazing and a real treat. My one and only criticism was the breakfast. 2 croissants and 2 slices of toast......would have expected a bit more for £375 per night!

  • Liked — private hot tubs and amazing pool and pool-house
  • Disliked — breakfast was a bit of a let down.

Wow what a beautiful place. It is an old manor house in a stunning setting near Dedham, ConstableCountry. So peaceful and romantic.
We were greeted at the door by the receptionist who doubled as the taxi driver later. Welcomed and shown to one of the most luxurious rooms in which I have ever stayed.
There was an old fire place, antique chairs and couch as well as the usual table, TV king sized bed etc. The bathroom was huge with his and her hand basins, lovely shower and enormous bath. (You wouldn't be able to get in it though if you had hip or knee problems)
That evening the receptionist drove the hotel taxi to their restaurant nearby called The Talbooth where we had probably the best meal ever!
I didn't particularly rate the breakfast, the "included" continental meal lacked variety and the full English was expensive for what it was. Unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to sample the pool but it looked very inviting.

  • Liked — The room, the views, the restaurant
  • Disliked — the breakfast

Stayed here for one night in August. We were upgraded on arrival to the Wordsworth suite - the bathroom was fab. Complimentary Moet and strawberries arrived just as we were un packing. Visited the Milsom for lunch - a gastrpub environment - very, very busy. In the evenign had a meal at Le Talbooth - wasnt the best we have ever had but pretty good. Breakfast is served in your room and preordered the day before. All in all a great stay.

My husband and I went for our Wedding Anniversary. We combined the overnight stay at Milsoms Hotel, with the Barbeque at Le Talbooth. The room was lovely with views over the garden, we enjoyed a relaxing drink sitting outside in the garden, before going over to the evening barbeque with live music. The staff were very helpful in both places and the food at the barbeque was excellent. A very enjoyable stay where 1 night felt like 2. Surrounding villages, especially Dedham added to the relaxing stay. Checkout and checkin were efficient & the courtesey car to and from Le Talbooth added to the ease of the evening. We will definately go back.

If asked for things to improve, the only points I would add are that whilst there was a small complimentary set in the bathroom, it included the smallest cotton wool balls I have ever seen & only 2 - so more cotton wool please, plus, larger towels would be nice. The only real regret on the stay was the unrequested early morning call at 5am, which was an unpleasant wake up call.
Although even this didn't detract from a very enjoyable experience.

  • Liked — Great food, within a contemporary chilled out atmosphere
  • Disliked — Nothing to dislike.

All i can say in regards to this establishment is that unfortunatly we were very dissapointed with the whole experience.
When i booked for my myself and my partner it was for a very special occasion and i paid alot off money to ensure the experience would be that to remember for a very long time, unfortunatly though we shall be remembering it for all the wrong reasons, the staff were very un helpfull and apon checkin the attitude of the reception staff was that from what i would expect at a B+B.
Im afraid i shall not be returning to this establishment and will be telling everyone i know to steer clear.
