My wife and I stayed in The Mews (self catering) for a week in July, 2013. We also stayed as B&B guests in the main house for three nights subsequent to our stay in The Mews.
First, the mews is a self contained loft apartment above garages and is separate from the main house. It is very well equipped, with comfortable, contemporary furnishings and offers all that's required for a relaxing and private holiday. it is quiet and private, offering seclusion and a high level of comfort.
Tony and Diane Hayes, the owners, were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and made what was an excellent holiday, into something exceptional.
The quality of the breakfast in the B&B was unsurpassed and the cleanliness and decor of our bedroom in the main house was exemplary.
Oaklands is only a few minutes drive from the historic town of Rye and offers the perfect base for exploring the many attractions of Sussex and Kent. The house has beautiful, mature and well tended gardens, which are available for the use of guests.
My wife and I vowed never to stay in a B&B ever again after an unfortunate experience at Mrs MacGregor's Guest House, which was owned and run by the Scottish landlady from hell; but Tony and Diane Hayes redeemed the B& B fraternity with their hospitality, warmth, charm and good humour.
If you're looking for the perfect B&B, Oaklands is as close as you're likely to get!
