From the minute we walked down atmospheric Watchbell Street we could sense we were arriving somewhere special. We certainly weren't disappointed! What a wonderful two night stay we have just enjoyed to celebrate our Silver Wedding. Each and every member of the team worked hard to provide a wonderful level of service that was efficient and attentive, whilst being friendly but not intrusive. We stayed in the lovely Jolly Sailor room, a good size, with every home comfort and it was lovely and toasty warm, especially welcome on a freezing cold day.
We stayed on the extremely good value Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis and were treated to two delicious, exquisitely cooked and presented there course meals which were made all the more special by all the lovely extras such as the complimentary bottle of wine ( from a good choice) the lovely bread and flavoured butter / oil and balsamic and coffee to follow.
We had a nice time chatting to the lovely friendly chap behind the bar and again were impressed with the bar prices and ambiance.
On our second night as we were were staying above the private dining room and although as "townies" it would not have been a problem if we had heard a bit of noise Chris the Director made a much appreciated point of offering us a room change and apologised for any disruption. We declined the offer and as promised all was quiet by 10.30pm, even though it was not unduly disturbing. By the way we thank you for this thoughtful touch and the complimentary drink!
Breakfasts were clearly cooked with love and attention with proper bacon and beautiful orange yolked eggs cooked to perfection.
So to sum up the Hope Anchor has got everything spot on - impeccable service, value for money, a great ambiance and some of the most delicious food we have had for a long while. Thank you lades and gents we can't wait to come back.
