Nice to travel but better to arrive, particularly if you arrive at The Rye Lodge. The warmth of the welcome is only exceeded by the attention to detail in the spotless bedrooms, where dreamless sleep awaits.
The icicles of anomoninity melt in the charm of the delightful staff. There's no place like home-yes there is it's called The Rye Lodge

Just back yeasterday from mid-week break to Rye Lodge Hotel. We had been given a charming getaways voucher as a gift and paid to stay a few extra days. We were allocated room 6 on arrival and felt a little let down on how dated the room was condiering it was meant to be a classic room. Very small, small double bed, and very narrow bathroom, we are both big people tall and wide so it wasn't the easiest room for movement and comfort. During the night I had to get up and put a fan on as it felf like I was in Greece peak summer season, very very hot, a very bad nights sleep even with windows opened. Thursday morning a asked why it was so warm the receptionist said "they had heard there was going to be a heavy frost" she turned the heating down by the thermostat. I spoke to my daughter who googled the hotel and the heat thing seems to be an issue with alot of guests. So we asked for a room change and were given as compensation the "Champagne room" the best room in the hotel. It was very big and again very dated. The bathhroom was very nice but again we had to enter it sideways as it is a very small opening so not ideal if you are less mobile. Lots of sealant has been used in both bathrooms which looks rather tatty and the carpets are just joined together and look very poorly fitted, not that this affected our stay but the condition of the rooms is not refklected in the price. The rooms are very over priced. The waiting staff were very nice and friendly and Michael most informative. The pool was a huge plus but the steam room (not sauna) was broken. Continental breakfast is included and very nice, cooked breakfast an optional coast of £12.50 unless it was included in a room deal was not worth the money. There was another couple there whgo came down for breakfast at 10.15 am Sat morning they were told they were too late for a cooked breakfast, they seemed very embarrased to be told they were too late, we nearly made the same mistake as the literature is not clearly defined on Saturday breakfast times, in fact Saturday breakfast information does not exist on any of the in-room documentation. On balance we had an enjoyable stay in Rye, walked to Camber Sands and got a bus back, very bracing!!! Had a lovely day at Battle doing the 1066 thing ate in a fab deli in town. Drove into Hastings for another sea walk and hot chocolate. We ate in the Landgate Bistro which was excellent, both meal and service. Had a fab curry in Simply Spice around the corner from the hotel. On our last night we ventured out in the car to Icklesham where we ate in the Queens Head, probably the best pub grub we have ever had. We will return to Rye but not to the Rye Lodge, and we wouldn't not recommend it each to their own!!! this was just our opinion.

A friend bought me afternoon tea for 2 people last Christmas for a present. This I booked last sunday. The sandwiches were lovely & fresh, but then we were given 2 very small scones, clotted cream & jam, 1 piece of cake & a packet of biscuits with a pot of tea. It all tasted nice but to me it was a total rip off for £30. (A packet of biscuits!!) The staff were ok but I wouldn't come here again.

Room Tip: Didn't stay the night

We chose this hotel because of it's location and good old fashioned style and service. It has a car park, a sitting out area for tea and a small indoor swimming pool, which I had to myself quite often. If things are not on, like the sauna, just ask the the staff and they will assist. The staff were very friendly and helpfull throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good. If you like charactor and peace and quiet stay here. We had a superior double room at the back. There are a number of excellent eating places in Rye within easy walking distance. We shall return.

We had a very nice stay at Rye Lodge. We didn't have reservations and after looking at a couple rooms, my wife decided on room 2. The lady working the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. It was a deluxe room with a balcony and very large for a European room. The room and en suite bathroom were very clean and the price was slightly higher than other England hotels in towns of Rye's size for that time of year. The included breakfast was fine, but no wow factor. Some of the exterior woodwork was rotten and in need of replacement, but that didn't affect our stay. My main complaint, but I've got no idea how they'd resolve it, was that we could hear pretty much everything going in the room next to us. The other complaint was the upholstery on the arm chairs in the room was dirty, faded, and in need of being reupholstered or replaced. There was free parking and WiFi.

A quirky, or even eccentric, little hotel in a beautiful town. Can't complain about anything in the slightest, but everything was balanced with a bit of the 'Fawlty Towers' - but not in a negative way at all, just the quirkyness of the hotel, it's old fashioned design, and eccentrically helpful staff!

Simply the finest hotel in Rye. Friendly staff, beautifully appointed rooms and a small indoor pool and sauna ....plus parking!

Rye is the perfect place for a relaxing break. So many interesting shops and galleries to browse in and even more restuarants and cafes to while away the hours and all of this right on the door step of Rye Lodge Hotel.

Room Tip: Their standard room is far more superior than standard - so any room is good!
