The dire state of the rooms in this hotel has prompted me to write my first review.
The website / facade of the hotel looks great, but don't be deceived by the awful state of the bedrooms. This hotel badly needs some owner investment if it is to achieve a status as little more than a hostel.
The outdated furniture in the public areas should provide a clue as to what is behind your bedroom door, but I am not sure I could quite have been prepared for just how low the standards are here.
We were directed to an annexe out the back. This had a musty smell upon entering. The same musty smell greeted you in the rooms.
The rooms must have been decorated 30 years ago. The carpet was worn / dirty, the bed and mattress were old / worn, and uncomfortable. Forget a duvet, here you have an old bedspread and blankets, neither of which looked clean. I dread to think the state of mattress. If you value sleeping in a bed which feels clean - think again if choosing this hotel. The wall lamps were bare bulbs, and the TV was a 1980's portable, which didn't work.
The bathroom was an old pink suite, with dirty shower curtain. The shower was little more than a dribble, and the pink toilet had a white replacement seat. The toilet didn't flush, and when reported, nothing was done. Mirrors are tarnished, tiles cracked, and taps worn out.
Why do hotel owners allow such poor standards - you really should be ashamed - I am sure with a half decent investment plan, you could refurbish the rooms, and increase your rates !!
I felt sorry for the staff here, as quite clearly they were not responsible for the state of the hotel, and yet I am sure they take complaints day in and day out from the guests.
I had planned on using the pool area, but given the poor state of the rooms, I decided against this.
The only redeeming factor was a good breakfast !!
