In general: a great place to stay for a night or so, with features you wouldn't normally get for this sort of price.
Close to station, sea and town centre, the place doesn't have an obvious sign, but plenty of parking when we turned up.
The person who greeted us was very friendly, showed us how to use all the facilities (TV, spa, Jacuzzi).
The room: clean, and a very good bed, but small. Flast screen tv and a fridge (the mini bar, just water when we were their, but it was quiet). Dressing gowns, tea/coffee/biscuits provided. However doesn't have a window (though light comes in from the bathroom).
Bathroom, large, clean and very bright, with two skylights and windows. The shower was good, spacious and various spray options. The large Jacuzzi was huge, has it's own shower, this is square and v deep, not a normal bath (which was a plus point for me).
But now we come on to the star, a door from the bathroom led out to the back, up a small path and your in to a out house which leads through to the spa. This is huge and kept very warm. the water is lit, and going up their on a cold dark night is fantastic. The area around the spa seems well kept. This was brilliant fun, especially as the smallish size of the hotel means you are likely to have it to yourself.
We spent some time in the spa before going for a meal at Latham’s Brasserie (excellent if you want a decent night out).
The good: not a normal hotel, and hence more fun (though I guess some people prefer the tried and tested), quirky, the spa, clean and friendly. Good bed.
The bad: this is more a B and B than a hotel. Very small. Small bedrooms, ours had no window. Just big enough for the bed, fridge and sofa. No wardrobe (didn't bother us, but others may find this important).
If you want a traditional hotel room this probably isn't it. Want something different, try this.
