“Old Town Hastings - full of interest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

A lot of history hidden in many old buildings. Intersting ancient pubs - with good beer and grub. The setting for the film series "Foyle's War". Worth spending a day exploring.

“Great place to wander”

Many wiill have seen the Hastings Old Town in Foyles War, but not realised.
Interesting buildings, countless alleyways and close by are the best fish & chips you can find anywhere.

“Have time on your hands? Go here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Don't go here for an hour - Go for Longer!! In the winter, try and avoid Wednesdays, as it seems they open later and close earlier - In the summer, the shops are bustling with intriguing things to see. The Glass Sculptresses shop is well worth a visit, with items of glass (you can even watch the women twiddling with glass, which is fascinating) and other craft items from pictures to swords and other replica weapons. The book shops are a delight to browse in and there is so much to see and buy, if you wish. The food vendors are cheaper and more home made goods sold than the typical retail area of Hastings. The streets are narrow, some cobled so make sure you have that time on your hands. If in a wheelchair, shop owners care and Help you! Fishing huts are at the end and the famous fish market, worth a visit. Parking reasonable and a few good pubs dotted around the area - don't go to the first pub you see, walk up and then decide on your way back!
