“Hot water, hot tea and a great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Great value in a time-warp!
The carpets are orange 70's swirls.
The wallpaper red flock.
And what a great place to stay.
Breakfast took a while, but so what! It was tasty, fresh and served by a friendly young lady.
Rooms quite adequate, good location and easy parking.

I was staying here the night before a bike race and Paul, the manager, was very helpful about storing it in one of the rooms. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Paul and one other staff member I met were very friendly.

We rang the Eagle having checked online b&b's in the area, Paul the manager was brilliant and gave us good directions to follow once we had arrived in St Leonards.
The hotel it's self is set back from the road with the added bonus of onsite parking, our room (No18) was huge and over looked the back garden, which meant no road noise and very little noise from those seagulls, we were able to have the windows open day and night. The bed was comfortable and the en-suite I would guess has been newly upgraded, it may not have been a power shower but it was in full working order, the door could have done with a hook or two on the back so you could hang your towel/clothes up while showering. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and plenty of it, certainly enough to set you up for the day.
Yes the room furniture is a little dated but it did the trick, my only moan would be that the room could have done with a mini fridge (neither of us like the little pots of milk) so always buy a pint of milk to use, keeping it in the sink in the bathroom is always hit and miss when the weather is good.
Paul's general knowledge of the area and his recommendations re which pubs to use and not to use came in handy, as did his knowledge of places we were looking for with regard family history research, would we stay at this hotel again - yes
Thank you to Paul and all his staff for a lovely stay

Room Tip: No 18 - at the back of the hotel, over looking the garden and above the breakfast room, very little...

Stayed here 19th May,an old fashioned bed and breakfast, clean, manager helpful.Does smell a bit musty throughout the building. The bedding is clean, nice shower room, lots of milk, tea, coffee, biscuits. For the price of £80 for two people, and a large well cooked breakfast, was ok,checkout was fast.
Lots of bath products and white towels, and there are lots of stairs.

The Hotel manager/owner was very friendly and helpful, the décor and carpets could be updated as could the furniture in the bedrooms which was all dark with handles missing from the chest of drawers, however, the rooms were of a very good size, the room my friend and I had was furnished with a large single bed and a double bed, my daughter and her friend had 2 single beds with a double bed making the £80.00 room fee for one night's b&b a reasonable cost especially if staying as a family. The Hotel is a short taxi ride away from Hastings old town but not too far away from the new town, however, both would make a nice walk if the weather was good, the White Rock Theatre is approximately 15 minutes walk from the Hotel.
The breakfast was very slow in being served, (only cereals and fruit juice are buffet) due to the fact there was only one waitress serving and I am guessing maybe one person cooking the breakfasts, once the food was served it was hot and enjoyable.

I stayed here for 2 nights, although the room was okish the carpets are old and dusty also missing is a small fridge and the furniture is very old and dark. not so clean. The bathroom was the best thing it was clean and fresh but it does need a door hook as there is nowhere to hang your clothes,

Breakfast was slow and bread was the cheap stuff? i noticed the table legs were quite dusty the decor was awful gaudy carpet and very old,the surroundings in this room was too much too bear as you sat eating there, shame as the manager paul was friendly but that's not enough for me to go back there anytime soon.get decorating please

Room Tip: noisy at night even at the back, do not go there if you have trouble with walking ,up hill all the w...

This Hotel up a nice Street close (ish) to the station and shops is a real find.
Free Car Parking. Excellent Breakfasts and a Warm welcome.
Rooms with hospitality tray / soaps etc and lots of room. Promenade 5 mins walk away.

No Lift or Air Com and sine new carpets needed - but who cares!

Gwesty canolog mewn ardal distaw/ brecwast da/ Croeso da - dewch yn llu!

Well worth a visit with reasonable prices for all budgets.
