“An enormous disappointment! Dirty, cramped and lousy service ...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

Staying in Brighton is great, it is a lovely city and as a starting point for the Goodwood Festival of Speed it is ideally situated.
But finding the right hotel or B&B proves to be very difficult.
Advertising on the internet can obviously win you customers but any repeat business goes out the window if you ar the Marine View Hotel.
What a big disappointment. This "thing" is old, dusty, dirty, cramped, noisy and making matters worse of a service standard that would make Fawlty Towers look like a five star resort.
Who in his right mind serves breakfast from 9 AM till 10 AM only and makes guest wait for 20 minutes (because they are 'early') before bringing milk so you can at least get some cereals.
Our advice (after having spent two nights here in two rooms, paying a whopping 330 GBP): STAY AWAY!

Room Tip: Just stay away from this place

It is a nice comfortable place to stay. Very valuable choice. The top floor room which i lived for tow night is tidy and comfortable, and through the window I really enjoy to see the bright pier and very nice view for the sea. Location is good with a very short distant to seafront.

The staff are friendly, helpful and very polite.

The hotel make me like stay at home, so relax and enjoy.

Room Tip: Top floor room-Room 9 has a nice view

Very good value for money if you don't mind sharing a toilet and a shower cabinet in the corner of your room.
Location is perfect and very pretty.
The staff are extremely service minded, the breakfast excellent and it's all very clean and tidy and quiet and safe.
I will be back.

I stayed in this hotel and just want to tell people to not bother. The hotel manager 'Richard' is a truly vile man. The rooms are small. The staff are rude. There were pubic hairs in my en-suite but other than that the cleanliness was ok. I had breakfast on the first morning and had to immediately go elsewhere to eat due to the small portions. I did also wonder whether there pet dog helped them cook it. All I can say is, if youre going to Brighton, go to another hotel, god knows there are enough of them.

I went here for my anniversary and was suprised how nice the room was as the pictures do not do the rooms justice (orange room???) room very small for a double!
The room was very cold but we did tell the owner of the hotel and he put the heating on for us. Although it was an ensuite the bathroom was very small.
I did request a vegetarian breakfast but was only given one quorn sausage, breakfast very small one sausage one bacon, good for the diet.
i would not bother staying there again.

I have to say reading all the bad reviews on this hotel makes me angry. I have stayed here 3 years in a row (staying again this Ocotober as well) with my boyfriend and we have always had a great stay!! The staff are all friendly and helpful. When we needed a taxi into town the owner quite happily booked us one. The rooms are very clean and tidy and are cleaned every day. Never had any problems with theft here....always have our valuables left out and nothing has ever been moved, let alone taken!! The breakfast is amazing!! You get to choose how you have your egg...not many places I have ever stayed in offer that!! The location of the hotel is great to, in walking distance of pier, town, restaurants etc. Once you have parked up you dont need to drive again if you are staying around Brighton the whole time. Parking could be the only problem as there are limited spaces outside the hotel, but that would be the same for all the hotels down that road. But saying that we have always been lucky enough to find a space. Don't listen to all the bad reviews as this place is lovely!! Definitley recommended!!

if you are looking for very casual laid back hotel/hostel than this is fine.
This is not a fancy hotel - it's very basic - I booked a single room and was not told that I did not have a bathroom in the room - I arrived and was offered another room but for an extra 50 pounds.
The service here was not great - I missed breakfast by 5 minutes (my own fault) and the lady offered me some toast - but that was it really.
I really wouldn't recommend this hotel - it is really more like a hostel and they should price the rooms accordingly
