Description: The Hotel du Vin Bistro in Brighton is just off the seafront and five minutes from the madly inspiring shops in The Lanes, but who would want to leave? Set in a collection of gothic and Tudor revival buildings built by, so apt, a wine merchant, the hotel has the trademark stylish, witty, super comfortable dcor that has won the group so many awards. The restaurant is elegant and relaxed and usually full, offering a menu rooted in classic European cuisine with a contemporary edge. The simple classics change seasonally, augmented by head chef Rob Carrs own creations each day. The extensive, eclectic wine list is central to the hotel, with a great number of choices by the glass.

“Great for Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

One the best value Sunday lunches in Brighton. Perfect for special occasions and the inevitable weekend when people come to visit. For course set lunch for a little over 20 quid.. Soup to start followed by a trib to a buffet of cold meats, seafood, pâtés and salad. All this filled by a choice of roast and then desert. Service is good and you are not hurried as in some places. A great alternative to the usual pub lunch.

“Restaurant has gone downhill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Restaurant has gone downhill... a lot. Have been a regular for Sunday Lunch for years. This week it was parsimonious, downright stingy actually, and of poor standard – local pub (25% of the price) is a much better roast. Pasta was also dreadful – like something from a supermarket packet. Seems as though they have changed chef… for worse.

“Poor value and poor cleanliness”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

Room was small, facilities didn't work and the bathroom which was a nice size was dirty and the décor was tired.
