Having eaten around the world, sometimes you need a Michellin Restaurant, sometimes fine five star dining, but more often than not just a good place for an evening out with good ambiance, quality food and outstanding service with friendly wait staff. This place has it all! When we walked in, the tables were immaculately set with quality polished stemware and we wre greeted and ushered to a table which wasn't to our liking (I'm really particular about this) - "not a problem please chose any table you wish we will adjust our other guest reservations around". We had difficulty in choosing a starter- "may I bring you a meze selection from the menu" Brilliant! Wines- not a big selection but with a NZ SauvBl and a Chilean Merlot who needs anything else. We chose a Rose which was very good indeed. Mains - Tender lamb shank and perfect marianaded grilled sliced lamb in portions too big for a single serving. We are foodies and talked to Aroun our waiter about the food and ingredients. He answered our questions and, then on a house full night, the chef came to our table to talk about North African Cooking. No room for deserts so we were given complementary liqueurs and on paying the bill, the chef brought out a container of preserved lemons and Harrisa paste for us.
Do I really need to say more? Go and judge for yourself but look at their web site and be sure to make a reservation. Don't confuse this restaurant with Macara (Turkish) in Church Road another excellent restaurant that is so popular you need to reserve a table on a Monday night in winter!
