Description: Brighton's critically acclaimed Terre a Terre is a vegetarian restaurant that will have even the most ardent carnivore waxing lyrical. Situated close to the sea-front. The decor is chic and stylish, using wooden floors and furniture to contrast with vibrant colours. But here the food is the centrepiece: dhal basmati buns with coconut curry leaf chatni, better Batter and Lemony Yemeni Relish and Thai aubergine jungle curry are just a few of the exotic and imaginative dishes you can find here. To complement the food, a large selection of organic beers, ciders and wines are available. A three course meal here costs an average of £30 per person. A refreshing take on vegetarian cuisine.

“Great food but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

Food is inventive and although it looks like it won't be filling, in the end it is. Not cheap, though.

“Amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

The food and service was very good at this restaurant. The cocktails were great, the choice of wine and the amazing choice of food was all very welcome!
I would highly recommend this place to all diners, vegetarian or not.
The staff were very attentive and friendly. The decor was relaxed and comfortable.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

My partner is a Vegetarian so I booked Terre a Terre as a treat for him whilst we were travelling through Brighton. Based on the reviews I was a bit worried but we were just blown away. The portions are large but not overbearing and the food was amazing. The service was good, not in your face, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food you get. You have to try the tasting plate, it was incredible.

“Civilised vegetarian restaurant near sea front”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

This restaurant has a very small frontage on East Street, a short distance from the main road by the beach. But, inside, it stretches back some distance. When we arrived at 13.30 on Saturday 29 September, we were surprised it was only half full. But it filled up later. Furniture is rustic in style but comfortable. We chose "Pidgin pie" a sort of pastilla with fruit and accompanying jerusalem artichokes, and an aubergine dish with lots of assorted veg. Both very tasty and showing what can be done without meat and fish. The assorted breads and olive oil makes a good starter to share. The English white wine from Horsmonden is low powered at 11.5 deg but fine for a lunch. The service was friendly and attentive. No fixed service charge added. Our bill overall came to £78. If you come by train to Brighton, it is about 25 mins walk from the Station.

“Not so good as it used to be. And what a shame that is.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We returned to terre a terre after visiting it twice about 2/3 years ago. The food was still a very welcome change for longer term veggies fed up with one boring choice but the portions were substantially smaller, dearer and the place needed a good scour clean throughout. Sticky tables, brown, sticky everything and dismal loos. Please, please go back to how it was, a shining light in the veggie restaurant darkness.
