I recently had to go to the UK to attend my mother's funeral. I booked this guest house via a hotel booking web site. My brain was not working at full capacity at the time, due to the above event. I then realized I had booked it in error and hastily canceled the booking. I had a reservation for all of 6 (six) minutes. Yes, 6 minutes. They still charged my credit card for the full price of the stay anyway.

The hotel booking site were great and tried to persuade them to refund the charge. No go. I then called them myself and tried to get them to do so. They wouldn't even consider it, even given the circumstances. This says something about the type of people who run this establishment. Do as other posters advise, and stay away!

This dump is run by a 'one man show' a nice foreign guy who appears to be embarrased about working there! The real villains are the manager and the owner who you never see. The foreign guy met us at the door in his black socks with his toes sticking through holes in them. Signed the book on the stairs & taken to room. The mattress was so springy you could use it as a trampoline. There was a pathetic plastic shower cubicle in the room and there were only 2 toilets for all the guests. At 10pm the heating is switched off and it was a very cold night. The 1 man show finishes at 10pm. At 1025pm I called the manager on his Manager and he was very rude, unhelpful and offensive and refused to come out to fix the problem. Told me it was my fault for not phoning before 10 pm. (It was working then!). No sleep because of cold room, noisy street outside after11pm until 4 am and thin walls which meant you could here the conversations of other guests. The breakfast room for everyone is so small that everyone is squeezed in at a set breakfast time. After eating our pathetic breakfast, our clothes stank of cooking oil because the small kitchen was right next to the breakfast room. One man does everything here and no sight of the manager or owner - perhaps they are afraid of meeting their guests and their complaints? Look at all the other bad reviews - DO NOT STAY HERE! Outside parking 2hrs max £3. Rip off £68 p/night.

Please do not stay at this Guest House. Firstly, it needs a good lick of paint and the net curtains need a good wash.

The room myself and partner stayed in was fairly clean, but with only 2 toilets for up to 16 guests, you can imagine the problems. Also, when I switched the shower on by the mains switch in the bedroom, it started to spark, a fire hazard surely!

The breakfast was terrible. There was no cereals, no fruit juice and the "full english" consisted of:- a small chipolata sausage, small rasher, horrible egg and a slice of toast with no butter or marge on it!!! Baked beans were also served and I counted a whole 6 beans on my plate!! One of the girls serving spent most of the time smoking outside the back door, which is not hygenic!

All the guest were compaining about the food and not having their rooms cleaned. There is a telephone number for the duty manager in all rooms, so guests contacted him for a refund!

This room was booked through laterooms.com, who promised fully on suite, which it is not (without a toilet), so do not stay here unless your expectations are very low and do not believe a word from laterooms.com.

It cost us £79.00 per night, which was a total waste of money. Please book via Brighton Tourism website, where you will get a quality guest house or hotel.

Brighton is a great city, but this guest house gives it a bad name.

This place is dreadful.

We paid £80 for a night and it was smelly, filthy and vile!!!

There is 2 toilets for all rooms (about 10 rooms). The toilet brushes are filthy and I didnt go in the hotel the whole time I was there.

I strongly recommend NOT to stay here. We were completely ripped off for £80 but it is not even worth £20. I would not stay there for free.

The carpet in the room is old and dirty, the bedding is scratchy and old and the whole hotel is appalling.

Don't waste your money - we were only staying for a night on a hen do - but even being in this place for a small amount of time made me feel ill!
