I booked a tent pitch at this site for a Saturday night when my Girlfriend and I were participating in the Brighton Marina Triathlon on Sunday 15th September.
I booked the pitch about six weeks before arriving and at no point was I asked for an arrival time or given a time to arrive by and no confirmation email was sent.
I added on an extra date (the Friday before the Saturday) - a week before the event. I left a voice message and received a message back saying that the extra date was fine, however, again i wasn't told when to arrive by.
We were due to arrive on Friday 13th September (maybe i should have known) and leave on Sunday 15th September.
We left London on the Friday evening after work and drove down to Brighton arriving at 10PM. It was dark and raining when we arrived and there was a barrier in place preventing our entry. A night warden approached the car five minutes later and informed us that we had to arrive by 8pm to gain entry. When I said that we hadn't been told this, he refused to believe what i was saying and asked us to leave. We calmly tried to reason with the man saying that we had no where to go, but he wouldn't budge and said that it wasn't his problem.
A lady called Jane was equally rude and unwilling to help and asked us to leave. After calling over thirty hotels in the area, which were all fully booked, we were left with no choice but to sleep in the car near to the road that leads up to the camp site. (a bargain at £0)
We spoke to many other people that weekend around Brighton about our experience who told us that they had heard of other guests who had a bad experience at the campsite.
I would think twice about staying here again because the staff ruined our weekend. I have never been treated in this way before and the staff we came across, as well as the whole organisation should feel very disgusted with the way they treat people.
