“Found by chance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

Looking for something to eat on our first evening and when the rain started we went in here for cover. Food was delightful and large portions, far too much for us to finish. Waitress was happy to explain the various things on the menu to us. The Young lady behind the bar was happy to explain how far we were from placves to visit and if it was better to get a bus/cab or walk from our hotel.

“Good value meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is an old pub that has been given a makeover, the result is rather severe, all greys and browns, all rather cheerless particularly when it is raining outside. Two large televisions showing different programmes with the sound on. The food, however is very good, there were four of us and we all chose different dishes and we all enjoyed them. Good standard Thai fare and very reasonably priced.

“Food is great and reasonable.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

We've eaten here loads. It's a perfect place to grab a bite before a movie across the street. We wish the Thai Cafe folks luck, but won't go again due to our experience with the -apparently 'in no way connected'- Circus Circus bar management, who ruined our wedding party with their horrible attitude/customer service the morning after we'd spent lots of money at their upstairs venue. I am sorry that the folks who run the Thai restaurant can't find another venue in which to serve their excellent food. It is bizarre that the bar is a separate entity, because the food is wonderful, and would surely attract more of a crowd, if there were some sort of connect between the two (provided the idiot from the bar that introduced himself (not by name, though) as 'management' either quits or is sacked.

“Thai Pub Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

Went there for lunch regularly some time ago. The food was always ok, prices were sensible and the food was always served very quickly. Bar staff sometimes seemed a little distant and cold.
I have stopped going there, because almost every pub now serves Thai food these days and there is very little which sets this pub apart from all the others.

“Do NOT hire the upstairs for your celebration!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

I'll start by saying this is in no way a reflection on the Thai food served by the very strangely unconnected 'restaurant' bit of this bar. I've had the food, and it's delcious. The place is split in two, with apparently very little communication or cooperation between the parts. We booked the upstairs to have our post-wedding celebration. We had to provide our own catering, which was okay (although we thought it odd that they didn't even suggest their Thai ..partners? not even that- a very unclear relationship indeed!) We had agreed that the party would last at least until 11pm, and, if it went a bit over, we'd pay for the bar staff to stay. They kicked us out at 11 (unless our guests wished to go downstairs to the other bar) but that was not too bad, as we were ready to go. The worst bit was in the morning: We'd asked if we could collect our leftovers and bits and pieces the next day, and the hired plates/cutlery were to be collected by the hire company. They said of course, and agreed to put our food in the cold locker. When we arrived next day, ready to thank them, and with a tip for the bartenders, a rude and agressive person who said he was the manager (but didn't bother to introduce himself by name or to ask how our night went) insisted that we get our stuff and get out now. We needed to rinse our rental stuff, but he said we couldn't and only relented when I insisted, making us use the tiny sink in the bar area, where he periodically came in to tell us to hurry up because there was a pole dancing club starting. He single-handedly destroyed any good will we'd had (Hannah, the woman who booked our party and looked after us before, was great) and we did not want to give them one more penny after his apalling behaviour, so the barstaff lost out too. He wrote us a weak non-apology a week and a half later, saying that they were good enough to look after our food 'at no benefit to them'. This place stinks. The Thai restaurant really should look for another place to serve their food. We have told all of our guests what happened, and would never set foot in the place again.
