I ate lunch at the Blackbird with a friend of mine recently. Whilst waiting for my friend to arrive, I had a cup of coffee which was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever drunk. When my friend arrived, we both had a cheese scone filled with cheddar cheese and onion marmalade. It was absolutely delicious. I was greedy and followed this with a large slice of coffee and walnut cake, which was also scrumptious. My only bugbear would be the strength of a pot of looseleaf tea which I drank with my lunch. It was rather weak. Other than that I can't fault a thing.
The waitresses were attentive and delightful. The ambience was wonderful with vintage music playing in the background (not at all obtrusively). The prices are about what one would expect to pay in Brighton. The location is very central. I recommend this café highly.
