“Du Vin = Tres Bon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We booked this to celebrate a special occasion and when we walked through the door we felt like we'd won the lottery. If you are after a memorable experience then this is the place you should book in to. We stay in Brighton all the time in some top hotels and guest houses and this place was leaps ahead of anywhere we have stayed before. We had a lovely room and the bed so comfy but it did not end there, the staff were great and looked after us on every level.
The hotel is perfectly situated 30 seconds from the beach and the same distance from the Lanes which are a shopper's paradise...
10/10 on every aspect.
We have booked to return in the summer.
Price was about the same as most of the other major hotels but the difference is this place is somewhere you won't want to leave.
Some of the larger hotels in Brighton loose the personal touch and the Hotel Du Vin has not forgotten about their guests wants and needs and I would defiantly recommend this place.
Happy customer.

Room Tip: Upgrading to a suit doesn't cost the earth and well worth it.

Just returned from an amazing one night stay. It was a treat for a birthday and we stayed on Sunday night. Lovely suite (The Rectory) with roll top bath in the suite, great separate bathroom with monsoon shower.

Lovely touch of complementary champagne awaiting in our room on arrival with lovely hand written note.

Very good food in the Bistro.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel du Vin while my husband was on business n Brighton. I absolutely adored the quaintness of the hotel, the gorgeous interior and exterior and centrally it was located. The service was wonderful and personal and the room was one of the best I've stayed in - and we get around a lot. Superior linen, a balcony and the bathroom was every girl's dream. Extra large tub and beautiful waterfall shower.
All over a wonderful experience - the only down was dinner..I don't mind paying if the quality is good but I was unfortunately not impressed. Had the veal with tomato and onion salas (that was too cold) and fries. Not bad but not great either. My starter (the soft shell crab) was scrumptious though...
Will definitely be back - bland veal notwithstanding.

Stayed overnight to go to a party. Very nice room with super roll top bath, walk in shower. Comfy bed and luxury bedding. The booking was on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was scrumptious! Well worth a stay if you like a "boutique" hotel in the Lanes area. No there isn't a sea view but you're within spitting distance of the sea front. Service was excellent with the right touch of friendliness. Quite expensive but worth it.

First time in Brighton and this hotel was really good, very friendly staff and a nice suite. Unfortunately we fronted the road and Friday night was pretty noisy until 3am. Perhaps I'll ask for an internal room next time.

Room Tip: Internal rooms for a quite night at the weekend.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times and on every visit the room, staff and feel good factor were amazing. Bar staff John and Derek made you so welcome it felt like a bar in my living room.
The manager Simon is top notch. Nothing at this hotel is to much trouble. We were lucky enough to stay in the Loft suite which is awesome but all the rooms are amazing.

Food and wine are excellent. Location is very central for the famous lanes and the sea is moments away.

All in all can not recommend this hotel highly enough and look forward to our next stay.

Thoroughly recommend this HdV. Great central location, friendly staff, and above a great restaurant - to my mind up there in terms of atmosphere, food, and service with the Wolseley in Piccadilly! Downsides? Hotel is a labrynth of corridors and passageways, reception area very cramped, and wear and tear showing in a few places (but nothing to get frustrated by).

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel du Vin Brighton is situated in the Lanes conservation area, a pebbles' throw from the seafront. Its 49 bedrooms are housed in a collection of eccentric Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings erected, appropriately by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. Among many interesting features are a heavily carved staircase and bizarre gargoyles, while the original double-height hall now houses the wine bar and Laroche tasting room. The perfect venue for a picturesque wedding or party is the impressively large and airy Dome room. For the best tankered of local ale, Pub du Vin is one of Brighton city center's treasures with its classic pub dining. Out with the Brighton hotel is the wonder and inspiring town itself, with quaint streets dotted with fabulous shops, and of course the famous pier and promenade. ... more   less
