“Great location on a very busy sea front”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

First impressions of the Queens Hotel were favourable , ok it could do with a lick of paint but we were greeted warmly and the check-in was very efficient. Our room was overlooking the beach and on the first floor . It was clean & tidy, bright & airy, although we could see that the fixtures and fittings were a bit on the cheap side and and slightly knocked about.

Location of the hotel is fabulous with the beach out front , the lanes with in a 3 minutes walk to wonderful shops , bars and restaurants and the Pavillion only a 10 minute walk away at most.

The only minus side to the location was the noise , Brighton seafront is very noisy at most times of day and night , but what would you expect ? it's a bustling town with a reputation for good night life. After our first very noisey & sleep deprived night we contacted reception and asked if we could be moved to a higher floor , they apologised and without hesitation agreed to our request ( we think this must be a common occurance ) we were asked to pack our bags and they would see to the rest , we came back a few hours later to a lovely room on the 3rd floor and our baggage waiting for us. We were also given earplugs on request , get them they do make a difference.

Breakfast was ok , buffet style and what you'd expect for the price but again the service was fantastic.

The staff really made our stay a really pleasant one , nothing was too much trouble and they were all so friendly and helpful , well done .

It's a bit shabby around the seams and could do with better windows , but is clean and well run.

If your looking for a quieter stay go as high up as you can and maybe the rooms facing in land , but if you want to stay in the thick of the action wake up to a stunning view and near to what Brighton has to offer this is the place for you.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend friends here and we would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors or inland rooms if you want to avoid noise

The hotel itself is very old. The room had old furniture, very worn out, the windows were very dirty, no air-co. The good point is the size, room was very big.

Bathroom was new, it was ok, big but poor light.

Breakfast was ordinary, not my style though, british breakfast with sausages, toasts and eggs. If you dont eat this then the options are veryyy few.

Internet for free and you have to pay parking.

Location is great close to the Royal Pavilion and in front of the Brighton Pier. But very noisy at night, ppl screaming, laughing in the streets and we could hear everything from the room.

Booked this hotel for one night so that we could attend my son's Graduation. The position of the hotel suited as we needed to be within walking distance of central Brighton. This would not be my usual choice of location, I would go somewhere quieter, but on a Monday evening I was not disturbed during the night. The service was good, I asked for a fan and my kettle didn't work, and both things were sorted promptly. The view was very good from the sea view room, the only issue was that the windows did not open very far and it was one of the hottest nights of the year. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.Storing our luggage store was not a problem.Altogether a very comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room on a high floor

Went for a two night midweek stay, we arrived very early so were sent away to check in later, we returned and got given room 415. an awful room with sloping roof and a window that would only open 10 cm and no air conditioning it was a hot room and to make matters worse below the room on the street was a nightclub that had student night (cheap drinks, rowdy students) until 4am. We complained and were offered a free upgrade but we only had one night left so we asked for an alternative or we would check out. So they offered a discount which we accepted.

Next the food, I have a chicken burger, expecting a nice piece of chicken it was no better than a Bird'e Eye chicken fillet, defrosted processed food.

The breakfast was luke warm and very poor quality.

I tried the food in the Bar One bistro again and ordered Fish and Chips and got duly presented with another processed fillet of fish looking like it had just been bought in from Iceland!

In short they are selling very very cheap food at a premium price.

Room Tip: Get a high room on the front away from the bars round the side and back.

The staff were friendly and the location is excellent - close to the beach, pier, and bars and restaurants - and that's either a problem or attraction depending on your perspective. It's a noisy area until well after midnight, either from the nearby bar behind or the police cars out front.
The hotel is not as grand as it thinks it is: rooms are clean and comfortable, but there's no air-con, so closing the windows to keep out the noise on a hot night is not a comfortable option. And the windows didn't keep out the noise! They're single glazed sliding sash windows.
Furniture is tired: shabby worn patches and corners on chairs and sofas.
Coffee in the bistro in the afternoon was fairly tasteless, and the breakfast buffet was limited - for example eggs scrambled but not fried, bacon limp and watery, not crispy.
The basement swimming pool is excellent but the changing facilities woeful.
My room was on the second floor - Perhaps higher floors are quieter?

First up, this hotel is great value for money. We stayed in a family room which was huge and very comfortable. We didn't get seafront facing, which was a shame but they had already informed us of this fact.
The bathroom was really big and the quality of the facilities excellent.
Breakfast was included and hence quite busy but we hardly had to wait a few minutes, and that too only on one morning. Breakfast timings were also very good for late risers.
There was a gym and pool which we didn't have time to use but others were happily using.
The staff were very friendly and polite. The hotel isn't air-conditioned and Brighton was quite warm during the time we went so they lent us a fan.
During the weekend, the nights got noisy but it wasn't too bad that we couldn't ignore.
The hotel is conveniently located; you can walk to the lanes which is just around the corner and Old Steine is close by as well. The Pier is just opposite. It's a really picturesque area and very well-connected.
We had an excellent stay and highly recommend to anyone else visiting Brighton.

The location of this hotel is perfect, but it depends on the reason you're here for. On a weekend, people come out for drinks, causing that area to be really noisy. The noise goes on till 3-4am. It is relatively near the Brighton Pier though. If you're here for parties it would be a great location but if you're coming with a family it's not a good choice - too noisy.

Staffs were helpful in attending to our needs. Value? I think it is a little too expensive considering that the facilities in-room are old. It appears to be a 2-3 star in-room facilities but charging pretty high. It is probably the location that justifies the price, not too sure.

Whether or not, it depends on who you're with and your purpose of visiting.

Room Tip: On a weekend, it will be really noisy, no point staying here if you're with family.
